When I try to download other peoples projects to play, it says "Squeak: Please select and image file". What does this mean? How do I get past it? ETC...
PS If anyone has any good ideas for a new signature, please tell me!

When it says that, it'll looking for an IMAGE file. Look in the folder it should automatically open in and see if there's any sort of Scratch.IMAGE file. If not, reinstall Scratch and it should work fine. If you've tampered with Scratch or the folder it's located in, this can happen if you've deleted a file or something.

I did that and then that basic thing with the white background and the cat without any scripts appears! What do I do now?

Find the project you downloaded and open it...
It might work better if you delete any IMAGE files that aren't Scratch.IMAGE, that way you won't have to find the project and open it again.
You also might have difficulties finding the downloaded file - the easiest thing to do is save it to the "downloads" folder and then open it, rather than just opening it straightaway.

Well, I'm assuming you have Windows, right?
When you download the project, it prompts you to either open or save it, right?
Save it instead of opening it. Then, open Scratch and open the file that you saved.
Is that clearer? You can save a lot of time by doing something a little complicated, but it's kind of difficult to explain and involves going under the hood of your Scratch.exe.

When you click the download link, a window should pop up that asks you whether you want to download it or save it - press "Save" and save it to somewhere you can easily find it, such as your desktop.

I've got an idea ... if you've been fiddling with Scratch (going into the browser, using my SFTs, etc...), you might want to try this (works when I do it):
1. Hold down "shift" on your keyboard, and click the loop in the R of the Scratch logo in the top left.
2. Let go of shift, and click "save image for end user"
3. Close Scratch.
4. Try downloading something Hope this helps!
