Does anyone know if a computer on which Java has never been installed, but on which a Java-enabled late-vintage browser has been installed can access the online projects through a link in an ordinary HTML page? An example of such an HTML page is the one at http://www.freewebs.com/bobby500/
I know how to create the link. However, I have so much Java scattered around my computer that I would almost have to reformat my hard drive to get rid of all the java.exe files in various locations on the disk. Also, every computer that I have access to has Java installed. Therefore, I can't perform the test on any computer that I have access to.

If Java is not installed the browser will probably render the HTML page just fine and it will simply display a gray square where you would normally see the project.

And in the corner is the Java logo, right? Because that's what I get- a gray box wit hthe Java logo. Do I not have Java on my Mac?

It is possible that you do not have Java on your Mac or that your browser does not have the Java plug in.

let me check that. I really hope that that is the problem so I can fix it

Alright, that's not it. Firefox has Java enabled. I went to Java preferences, and I'm running J2SE 1.4.2. like you said in another post, but it still isn't working!
