Go on then, how?

Shift-click on the R in the SCRATCH logo; this brings up a menu.

Using this menu, turn off fill screen, make your window bigger, thus exposing an area outside the Scratch screen.

From there you can get to the World menu by clicking on the space outside the Scratch screen.

From there you can open a System Browser. (open/Browser).

The System Browser has a list of categories on the left top; selecting one of these categories will show a list of classes in the next pane to the right; selecting a class will show a list of method categories; selecting one of these will show a list of methods.

Select a method and you will see its decompiled form (there are no sources here, so you lack meaningful variable names and comments).

The "instance" and "class" buttons select whether you see instance methods or class methods.

You can create new methods and classes from the Browser.

You can also open a Workspace from the World Menu; this is a text editor that has special powers. Type text, highlight the text if you want, then type a special key combination to do fun stuff. These include:

Cmd-B  browse
Cmd-I  inspect
Cmd-D Do It
Cmd-P Print It
Ctrl-) parenthesize

Hi, I'm new. I haven't really done much yet but when I do it will probably be a bit random.

Nice to meet you, though you shouldn't really give your name away on the internet.

If he gives away his first name no one's going to care.
Especially because it's a super common one, Mark.

Re: ITopic: New Members...introduce yourself here!

Hello. I am ClumsyNinja145. I have been using Scratch for just a few days, but am really impressed. I am currently working on a game called ProPacMan, and a few others, as part of a school project in Year 9. However, there are a few things I wold like to know.
1) Firstly, is there any way to hide the mouse during a Scratch animation/game? I have tried but cannot find anything.
2) I would also like to know if there is any way of exporting a Scratch project once it is finished. This is so I could start the game with just one click.
3) Are there any tutorials available to learn and make in Scratch.

Thank you  smile

1. No - not at the moment, anyway (I often find myself wanting this, too  sad )

2. You can convert it to an .exe somehow... I'll get the link for you  smile

3. There are plenty of tutorials - some basics are covered here: http://info.scratch.mit.edu/Video_Tutorials

Other people have made unofficial tutorials on more complex, too - here's an index of quite a few: http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=36134

Oh, and welcome to Scratch! (I'd like to say that I remember using Scratch in Year 9, but I'm a Year 8  tongue )

Re: ITopic: New Members...introduce yourself here!

Hello! I'm Sophie and I first used scratch a few years ago. I got quite into it and did quite a lot, but stopped after a while (partially because I was finding it so frustrating trying to make a realistic simulation of an electric circuit; it's harder than it sounds). Recently my brother started using it, so I decided to try using it again. Some things have changed since I last used it, but not much.

So, erm... that's me.

I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean... But if a computer that you have tried to log in on is blocked, try contacting the Scratch Team on the page that shows up  smile

I think first names are OK - otherwise usernames with them in wouldn't be allowed... there are many users who have their first names in their username (eg - Chrischb, Jonathanpb, andresmh, nikkiperson2, joeisawesome, 08jackt...)  smile

Oh, and sorry for beating you  tongue
