Gallery Request Feature for the Scratch Website

***Feature for the Scratch Website***

Many gallery owners frequently have the problem of gallery spam, especially if their gallery is featured or simply very popular. Unless they put restrictions on the gallery, people can just spam unrelated projects in there for attention. But if there are restrictions, the only way people can add projects is by bookmarking the gallery, being on their friends list or asking the owner to put their project in with a comment.

What i'm saying is there should be an option under the "Who can add projects?" that, instead of straightaway adding the project to the gallery when people check the box, it sends a message to the owner.
Instead of saying "Your project "Burger Delight" has been added to the Game Shark Productions gallery." it would say "Starwarsfanatic44 has added your project "Burger Delight" to the Game Shark Productions gallery. Click here to approve." If you approved, the project would be automatically added to the gallery. If the project was completely unrelated and you didn't want it in there, you could just not click the approve button. It would save lots of time deleting spam from your gallery. Just a suggestion. ^^

Re: Gallery Request Feature for the Scratch Website

I support. But why should I watch a youtube video if I want to approve it?

Great rickroll!   smile
Good thinking!  Yes, I agree, private galleries need more flexible permissions.
They say they're planning on something that will make collaboration easier, it will be interesting to see their plans.

I think Public galleries (galleries that have "anyone can add" turned on.) are basically the same as Tags. (Lists of projects that anyone can add to.)  They both have the same problem: They're sorted by most recent (also 'views' and 'love its' for tags) instead of how much the community thinks it belongs in that tag.... so they're spam magnets.  Anyone can add their project to the top of any public gallery or tag (on recent project, or if they already have a ton of views or love its, they'll be can be at the top of any unrelated tag, like waffles, with one add.)

So I think we need to:
-Get rid of either public galleries or tags.   (In my idea I got rid of public galleries.)
-Make them vote-able.
-Split the tag (or public gallery) page into "Recent 'X' projects" and "Top 'X' projects".
Anyone can add a tag to a gallery (or add a project to a gallery) and it will show up as "recent 'X' projects", but more have to vote it up for it to be on "top 'X' projects"
(This is discussed more here.)
-make this "top x projects" filtered by the last 24 hours, week, month, year, all time.  (kind of like youtube.)
-also put comments at the bottom of all tag pages. (or public galleries, like it is now.)

Re: Gallery Request Feature for the Scratch Website

Wouldn't having to approve every single project be even more annoying? O.o (I know that to me it will xD)

http://i52.tinypic.com/5es7t0.png I know what you're thinking! "Neptune! Get rid of those filthy advertisements and give us back the Zarathustra siggy, you horrible person!" Well, don't worry about it, the Zara siggy will be back soon, new and improved! ^^ Meanwhile, just do what the sig tells you to. >.>

It's almost like the Design Studio... They leave a comment, then we have to manually approve every project, add it to the gallery, reply to their comment saying we added it, and it's a long, tiresome process.

However, you could make like the Design Studio and have users comment on the gallery with their projects. I definitely support, though.

Good idea, I think galleries need more options like these. It seems as if galleries may have lost popularity because of problems and time consuming tasks.

This would be handy...  smile

I fall: It's a tragedy. You fall: It's comedy.
Hmph enjoy your fall - I get a lovely spring... without pans of new leaves.
