Well, The russian did it..... i think you know that. But they use a certain bomb called the Hydrogen bomb. This doesn't create radiatin. it will jusr close up the spill. But it does kill  anything living, that's the downside... on land. but not in water. well, maybe some things would die.... but it's more important stopping the oil from coming out.

People are thinking of nuking the oil spill using hydro bombs. it's a HUGE bomb that doesn't create any radiation but can kill things. Russia did it on every oil spill they had lol... it works.

and correction: hydrogen bombs are radioactive, they are thermonuclear, and they have a regular a-bomb on board, to have a chain reaction.
and technically speaking, all bombs are atomic bombs because they're all made of atoms.

Atomic bombs=Nuclear fission
hydrogen bombs=nuclear fusion.
