How to deal with spamming

Table of contents:
What is spamming?
The 3 types of spamming
If you see someone spam.....
What is spamming?

Well, have you ever seen a comment or post like this before?

Woot99:I think the spamming problem is increasing.
TomLolz:Yes,I think so too.
SpamMaster34:PLAY MY PROJECTS THEIR THE BEST IN DA UNIVARSE!!!!!!!! DO IT OR I WILL GO TO ALL YOUR PROJECTS AND FLAG AS INAPPROPRIATE HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

In case you don't know(remember that some scratchers have never touched a computer before), what SpamMaster34 is doing is-you guessed it! Spamming. Usually, spammers will go to several topics and write random, off topic messages. Alternatively, they may do something similar, called flooding, which is bombarding a particular post with useless message

The 3 types of spamming

If think what SpamMaster said is the only way of spamming, you're wrong. There are, in fact, 3 major types of spamming:
1)Open Spamming
This is when someone openly demands you to look at his projects, usually doing it with caps and a ton of exclamation mark. What SpamMaster34 did was open spam.
2)Subtle Spamming
This is when someone asks you to look at his projects, but hides it under another reason. Example: "Visit my projects to get a free loveit!"
3)Random Spamming
The third, and arguably most annoying type of spamming, is  when someone randomly says something stupid. Example: "I like pie. I AM SHOOP DA WHOOP GIMME PIE :DDDDDDDD"

If you notice someone spamming...
If you notice that someone spammed, the best thing to do is to flag it. This will, at the very least, remove it from your sight(I think). However, if you find that somebody has been repeatedly spamming, use the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page.

I hope you found this guide useful. Thanks for reading!

BBCode makes the arrangement/style of a post better.
I can make you the article better arranged.

EDIT: Done  big_smile
Put the text in the box in your first post!

Code:

Re: How to deal with spamming

I'd suggest that rather than ignore it, flag it right away. That helps moderators, etc. find it better.

Re: How to deal with spamming

Say, if you have a sonic game, and you are at a sonic gallery, would it count as spamming if you put a link to your sonic project in comments?

For me, phailure is not an option. Ceriously, I nether phail. Nether.

Re: How to deal with spamming

If it was Sonic gallery inviting others to post their Sonic projects then nope ^^

But just posting random links on any gallery won't get you any favors and will probably annoy the gallery owners..

Another way to advertise your project, and probably the most effective would be the Show & Tell section of the forums here.
