Cool - nice of you to post this, and a mod tag is a neat idea. I'm not so sure about the shield part though - it's a bit too military. Mods are really more like helpers - an older sister or brother - than soldiers.

How about interlocking gears instead?

How/where did you make it? I have an idea...  wink

I made it with PSE, and added the gloss with an iPod/iPad/iPhone icon generator.

What idea? Cast away!  smile

On a side note, it's nice to be appreciated. Rarely does a user bring up my idea.

Can you post a tutorial?

I love it! Even tho I'm not a mod... But I would like to be  big_smile

Good idea!

Well, the next election isn't until about 3-4 months from now (if there will be one) - so you'll have to wait until then.

Sure! Next time you want a title for something edited, just report the post and tell us what you want - that way will be a lot faster and help us notice it some more  big_smile

We're holding elections next week for 4 more Scratch community moderators. (The current forum mods will stay mods for as long as they like). Questions? Read the page linked above, then ask on this thread.

Re: Questions about Scratch community moderator elections...

I have some questions...  smile

1. How much time are community moderators expected to spend moderating each day?
2. I think there was something somewhere that the community moderators would discuss with the Scratch Team if they would be allowed to continue without need for re-election - what happens if all four of them decide to continue? Will there still be an election?  tongue  (Correct me if I'm wrong about that)
3. How exactly do you decide the candidates? I suppose you judge by stuff like helpfulness, reports sent, activity, and kindness... what about stuff like past history (a ban, post edited, and so on)?
4. Do you sort out multiple IP votes in the election? If so, that would be a bit frustrating... there are lots of people who vote on the same computer.  hmm

Thankies for reading.  big_smile

They used SurveyMonkey in the last election, which stopped people from voting multiple times on the same IP, I think...

NOOOOOOOOO

We use different computers with slightly different IPs, but sometimes websites think we have the same IP - what if only one of our votes counted in the election?  yikes

I've always preferred the Scratch Team and moderators to choose new moderators themselves... in elections things get complicated.  tongue

I don't know if I'll run in the future or not, but there's a problem... I had a post edited once to remove the name of a commercial spammer, and another post edited when I was asking about the IP of one of the trolls (stupid me). >_<

How much effect does that have?  neutral

That doesn't mean he did something ridiculously bad, though.

I got from banned to Moderator in 2 years.

If it detected that an IP was the exact same as one that was voted on before, it would have taken you straight to a "Thanks for voting!" page, instead of the page with the ticklist. So, if that didn't happen, don't worry - both of your votes were probably counted  smile

Chrischb wrote:

I think you'd be considered, even if that was the case... I had a post removed before I became a mod - because of naming someone who had done wrong... I think it's overall behaviour - everyone is allowed the odd mistake (this applies to my school life... in two years at high school, I've had one detention... for thinking it was Monday, not Tuesday, and forgetting to bring my French book >.< We had a bank holiday on the Monday.)

Little slip-ups should be fine - we're only human  smile
