Mesh already works, but it's really limited. I hear Scratch 2.0 will have an improved version of mesh, though.
I'm taking a break from Scratch until 2.0 comes out. Any messages sent between then and now probably won't be read - sorry.

Perhaps you having to pay an ONLINE MEMBERSHIP FEE so they:
- don't use meshes
- but are actually hosted CONSTANTLY online at their servers

But I think the purpose of Scratch is to be free and open, and paying a membership fee goes against that philosophy. Very good idea, though.
