The failometer in browsers

Opera = It's just [word removed by moderator].
Safari & Firefox = Can be fast and secure
Chrome = Lightning fast! But it's not as secure as you think it is.
Internet Explorer = Slow, but studies show that it is the securest browser. Funded by Microsoft though, so it might not be 100% true

Opera isn't bad! It's sleek, small, fast, and secure!

Safari and Firefox shouldn't be grouped together because one is proprietary apple crashware and the other is awesome

Chrome . . . . . . you guys can keep google's spyware all to yourself . . . .

smile  Yup it's pretty bad and insecure (read: worst browser ever)

Actually, Safari isn't proprietary at all - in fact, it's pretty much the same as Firefox but looks better  smile  I like it SOOOO MUCH. It's really fast and sleek, too.

I disagree. Chrome is very secure and safe, and blocks many pop-ups for example, and if a website is giving many alert/confirm/prompt messages, it can make it stop, and more.

Also, Chrome has great tools for web development, such as viewing the source for a website, but more importantly, tracking the resources, and what's taking up the time to load, to optimize web development.

I like Chrome, but I don't use it very much. I just can't be bothered redownloading all my web plugins. Java, Unity, Shockwave, Flash (just to name a few).

Re: What is your favorite internet browser?

May I take this time to make a small point.
Google knows everything you search for.
Google knows everything you email about.
Google knows everyone you chat with.
If you use Google desktop, then Google knows even more.
As soon as you start using Google Chrome, everything you do on the web is known by Google.

Don't use Chrome.
It only increases the chance of Google initiating a hostile government takeover in forty major countries.

I disagree. Although a good amount of that is true, they keep all of the information private, and don't give away any of the information under any circumstances.

Well, I'm sure many of us don't believe that google is taking over the government in 40 major countries, but they do track our every move on the internet.

Yes . . . yes I do . . .

I am quite sure Chrome knows every website you visit, every key stroke you make, and that they log this information on their servers and use it to IP profile you.

None of those things are good . . . .

(No, I doubt Google will "take-over" the world)

Which is bad because...?

It's to our advantage, because this way, they can find what they are looking for quickly, based on what we've searched for before and stuff.

It is NOT a good thing! Preserve your privacy! No one should know anything more about you than they have to. Google knows so much about you! Every time you make a google search they know what you type. Every time you use Chrome they know everything you do.

You might as well have the government put security cameras everywhere!

Have you looked at Chrome's source code to confirm this?

No, they've only released the Chromium portion of their code.

I know they log every time you use their search engine, why not when you use their browser?

So basically, you're believing that they know when you type each word of each of your messages, as well as when you pause, and when you press backspace and what not, and they store all of that for millions of users on their databases/servers/whatever.

Very impractical.

Wow...what a spirited discussion!

Remember, the topic is "What is your favorite internet browser" not "Why privacy is important" or "When Google will take over the world".  Let's try to stay on topic  smile

Re: What is your favorite internet browser?

And just to wrap this up, there is an incognito mode on Goggle Chrome, which from my understanding, stops people (I'll assume that includes Google) from tracking where you have been and what you've done on the Internet.
