This is the complete guide on how to be famous on Scratch. This has got to work for you because it worked for me; I got featured! I am not as famous as Nikkiperson2 or Maki-Taki and all them, but I'm an amateur. My projects receive about 30-50 views over a week. The highest I've ever reached is my Featured Train Station 2, which currently stands at 1117 and is going up all the time. You can be famous if you read this.
1. Starting
First, you must advertise yourself on the forums. Don't spam or anything, just make topics with interesting titles. The forums are handy if you are new, because you can get lots of help. You must have LOADS of friends if you want to be famous. Start by leaving lots of positive comments on projects, favourites, love it's and remix 'Add Yourself' things. This is handy because more people will check out your projects and be friends with you if they see you posted all over on different projects. Also, leave nice comments on very famous people's projects, because loads of people view them and will see your comment. If you look interesting, they might just click your name.
2. Where your projects come in
If you want to be famous, your games must be of the greatest story, look, title, interface and features. Don't just open up Scratch and make a random two-minute project with awful graphics, take time and make the graphics to the best quality. If you are making animation, be sure to make it smooth and precise. Game controls must be easy, quick and suitable to the project. If you make projects with your initiative and imagination and time, you will get lots of views and projects. It is a good idea to store sprite templates for different things. I store plain train sprites in the folder and edit them when I use them, I do this with everything else, add good sprites to the folder. This means that when you make a project, you can use sprites from folders to save time, plus if time is saved, your graphics won't be rushed and awkward. Do NOT let ANY glitches if possible occur in the project at all. If you are up to it, make request projects. People are always looking for sprites and will definitely check out a request project or forum. Tag it with sprite, requests and stuff like that. Make interesting looking trainers for the upcoming projects so people will be excited and stay tuned, that gives time for them to check out your other projects. Also, before uploading make the scene of the project interesting, so it appears as an appealing, eye catching thumbnail online. You must also make your title short and catchy. If possible, make it fit in with the thumbnail online, for example:
Wrong title wrote:
The Ultimate Cake Making Machine
Right title wrote:
Cake Maker Machine
This will attract users to your projects, as well as the appealing thumbnail. Another uploading 'must have' is tags. Add interesting tags, including the template tags and tags to do with the project. Add common tags, and a tag that says your name.
3. Profile
Your profile must be attractive. This isn't a very important aspect of fame but it helps. Good profile pictures help, as well as attractive names, galleries and favourites. If you have favourite lots of projects, people will thing you are kind and check your out. Plus, the user's of the projects you favourited, loved so on will surely give you credit.
4. Patience
You must be patient. You can't expect fame to come to you, you've got to go to it, and that's a reasonably long journey. But it's worth embarking on! If you abide to the above rules, your journey shall be minimised. And you must NEVER quit Scratch if you can't be bothered waiting. Fame takes work, and you've gotta complete that work. Lady Gaga didn't quit singing at an early age, Michael Jackson didn't quit singing AND dancing at an early stage, they took years too.
5. Attendance
You must be on Scratch quite a lot. At least check your site once or twice a day if possible. You can't take long breaks for no necessary reason. Attendance Matters! You must make lots of really good projects, and if you keep online, your journey shall be accelerated by a great deal. There'll be opportunities to comment and love it and make friends.
Finally...
DO NOT:
Spam
Quit
Abuse
Swear
Make rude projects
Nag people
DO:
Make lots of friends
Be nice
Comment and love it and favourite
Have perfect attendance
Make appealing projects
Take time
It's worth it! Trust me!
I hope this helped, and I hope you take something away with you after reading this. If you do, get to work straight away and begin your journey!
Scratch On!

The other guides to getting famous are in Show and Tell, though...

I think I agree with Chrischb - this would fit better in Show and Tell - I'll move it over.

I have to admit, ever since I have had two of my projects put in the Design Studio galleries, my view count has gone up by about 15 per project on average! One of my projects is the gallery picture for one of the Design Studio galleries!
