Post Yer Gimp

I have noticed that some threads have been going a little off topic towards the point of this one: Show off your GIMP work! Just leave a any of your Gimp creations and others can critique!

Some of mine:

Ooh, flags!  tongue

I'm starting to lean toward the idea that GIMP is better than Photoshop! Too bad my Dad doesn't let me download stuff unless he tests it first...

But heres some tips to help  tongue

What is always a big help for me is using "Alpha to Selection". Right click a layer(for example a text layer) and click "Alpha to Selection", it will outline select the entire layer, to save you the trouble of doing yourself which takes forever. Then you can grow, shrink, feather, or sharpen the selection, make a new layer and put it below the text layer, fill in the selection with the paint bucket on the new layer and you could end up with the glow on the "Targethero" text on my old sig, or the white outline on the "Scratchable" text.

As for the clouds and lightning, using cloud and lightning brushes makes everything easier, you can get them from DeviantArt. make the clouds/lightning bigger and brighter towards the top, and smaller and darker as you make your way down to give it depth. Use whatever color you want... I used green because It was inspired off of the Modern Warfare 2 logo.

Photoshop.
After using photoshop CS2 for a while, GIMP seemed so limited. If it and Paint.net somehow combined the best of their features, they could be like a second-rate photoshop edition.

Paint.net isn't really very good at all.

I agree, except that its great for edge detection. Also it has an effect called ink outline which work's better then the Gimp version.

Anybody have a good background replacing tutorial? The ones I used were old versions, or it just didn't work.
