BYOB and Recursion

I think that the Scratch Team should add BYOB to the next version of Scratch. That would fix two of my big problems; recursion and methods. It would be great!  big_smile

Re: BYOB and Recursion

Great idea, but I'm pretty sure it won't happen because the Team has always been trying to keep Scratch as simple as possible. BYOB-like features weren't included in Scratch because it took away from the simplicity and made it a lot harder to learn.

Oh yea, I think I've heard that before but I just forgot about that... maybe they could publish an advanced version of Scratch that more experianced useres could use, or they could make something like byob.mit.edu or something! Just some thoughts.
Oh wait... can you already publish projects made in BYOB somehow? All I know is that you can't post it on the normal Scratch site but I haven't bothered to dig any deeper.  hmm

I suggested an advanced version of Scratch a long time ago... here.

Oh... I never saw that! But maybe they could try a website for BYOB, a seperate section on the already existing Scratch website, or just reprogram BYOB so you can share it online just like any ordinary project. Then if you had it you could download the project! Being able to share projects from the program would be great! Once again, just some thoughts.

Don't be so negative  wink

The BYOB team has been talking to the Scratch Team about implementing BYOB features into Scratch, so it is definitely a possibility, so I have heard!

But don't get too excited, because it will still take at least a year for Scratch 2.0 to come out.
