I want to know exactly why we can't delete our own comments on the Scratch website. It would be realy helpful if you accidently replied to yourself, replied to the wrong user, said something that didn't come out the right way and don't want the other user to see it, etc...
EDIT: I meant to type, why can't we delete our comments on other people's projects.

I'd like to know that, too... And if possible, I'd support that we should be able to delete our comments on other people's projects - I know that I make rather embarrassing typos sometimes! Would you like me to change the title for you? (I noticed your edit)

Sure, thanks Wolfie

They used to have this, but because of Cyber bullies deleting bad messages after they were received, and before action could be taken, it was removed.
I think the PERFECT solution would to allow EDIT/delete until the comment is 5minutes old!
This would allow for typo fixes without the risk of cyber bullies.

Hmm... how about instead of a fixed time of editing/deleting, maybe until the message system updates? Then, if the update is less than five minutes away, a cyber bully can't edit their comment after whoever has recieved it... Just a thought...

That's the reason that I recall. I kind of like the 5 minute idea myself...and I'm pretty sure that solution was considered at one point. I'm not sure why it wasn't implemented. I'll see if anybody else remembers...
Okay...I did some research. This feature made it on to the change list as item #129 in December of 2008 and was actually worked on for awhile back in the early and middle parts of 2009. But it was never completed. Maybe a resource problem? Maybe it turned out to be harder than it looked, what with all the database caching going on?

What about a system like on Youtube? You can press the delete button, but it just changes the text in the comment to something like, "Comment removed by author". But the scratch team can still see it if it was flagged before it was removed.

A few months ago there was a feature (I think it was actually a bug) where you could delete your comment right after it was posted. If you refreshed the page or came back to the project later, you couldn't delete the comment anymore. Unfortunately, it didn't work with replies.

That would be espacaly good for rpgs because say you post without relisasing someone else posted ex.Then rage turned and ran but then without relising it you type ex.Drone leapt walked forward two steps and said in a hushed tone "I eat pie"

I want to be able to at least edit my typos, Instead of posting another one saying that there was a typo. But I don't see why Cyber bullies couldn't say stuff on the forums anyway.
