Can Scratch control a switch?

Greetings.

I've been working on a few projects that would need to have Scratch control an external switch (other than a reed or magnetic switch) with a Lego WeDo servo.

I was looking at the Phidgets.com boards.

Here is the link to the Phidgets board.

Have even posted a project on Instructables that uses the WeDo Servo and Proximity sensor and have used a proximity switch.  See below:

Would like some direct control, especially with a thermometer feedback.

Has anyone got an opinion on this that doesn't start with "No" or end with "Do it in Python"?

Thanks
Richard
