Well, you said you were wondering how they chose beta testers, and where you could sign up for beta testing. All of which were in past tense, so I assumed you meant they'd already started beta testing.

I need to go back to 4th grade.  lol

I mean, I heard that they'd already chosen beta testers, and I want to be one of them...

Re: Was there a place...

I think you could sign up to get updates about Scratch (and beta test) back in the 1.0-1.1 days, long time ago.

I was able to beta test 1.3 with no problem whatsoever  hmm  And I "got" a version of 1.4 beta.

Re: Was there a place...

Well, there are no more sign-ups now. I signed up back in 2007, and whenever a new version is about to come out, they send me and the others an email. I haven't gotten one for 2.0 yet.

Too many beta testers would be almost the same as an unintentional leak...  tongue

It'd be nice to beta test it, though - I'd be honored.

Hmph enjoy your fall - I get a lovely spring... without pans of new leaves.

Yeah, I know what you mean - With 1.4 they had thumb drives they were giving out at MIT. Some of the users that got them handed it out to other people secretly, causing an unintentional leak. I guess you bring up a good point.

I don't think they're even close to beta testing yet.  tongue
From what I've heard, they're still thinking it up.

Re: Was there a place...

It seems like the Scratch Team is still quite open to suggestions, although you should see some of the stuff their department at MIT has been doing that looks a heckuva lot like a Flash Scratch prototype: http://www.designblocks.net/

I'd go on the verge of calling it a copy of Scratch. CopyCats!

They did:

It is being developed by the Lifelong Kindergarten group at the MIT Media Lab. ...

it is being made by the scratch team.

Not all of the Lifelong Kindergarten group is working on Scratch, right? It could be a different group... I doubt it though. Eh, well. I still think Scratch is better, though.
