Rubik's cube solver

Does anyone want to help me make a Rubik's Cube solving program in Scratch? I think how it would work is you would give the program the current layout of your cube, and it would tell you how to solve it. I've seen these kind of things online, and I think that it might be possible to do in Scratch.  smile

I probably am too, but I like ambitious ideas.

Also, if we get a lot of people together, it might be possible.

(where did you get the 95%?  tongue )

Re: Rubik's cube solver

I think that's a really neat Idea, though I'm out, I can't solve one normally.

You could use the Panther webcam to actually read the colours on all the faces to build a virtual model of the cube to work with  smile

GOOD IDEA! I am doing it now!

Never mind, I lost my Rubik's cube a couple years ago. Duh.

Make a net

                                         _____ _____ _____
                                        |       |       |       |
                                        |____ |____ |____ |
                                         _____ _____ _____
                                        |       |       |       |
                                        |____ |____ |____ |
                                         _____ _____ _____
                                        |       |       |       |
                                        |____ |____ |____ |

Obviously with 6 of them and then get the user to colour them in the colours and then get it to slove it.

My Rubik's Cube came with a little solution booklet, (yay, I can cheat now! xD) if yours did too you could try to implement that.

Re: Rubik's cube solver

I searched on google ' Rubik's cube computer algorithm' and found one that is called the BestFast algorithm, trying to figure out how it works atm, and to see if it could work in scratch.
Also here is something i threw together quickly > http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/NeoTux/1082877
doesn't really work online like online you can put a node/block thing on the middle one, but offline it doesn't let you.
PS Also i know how to solve a Rubik's cube
