I usually just spend all day dinking around with the mods and karts and tracks

I plan on getting it, though I'm going to get split second first, though LBP2 will put this game to shame as it will support a racing game format and still contains LBP's vast creation tools plus more I assume with LBP2

lol no, LBP2 will support multiple game formats, it won't be limited to the three-lane platformer system, you can expand to any game format, including RTS, it is planned to be released this winter
