Scratch Basketball Association collaboration

All great ideas start with a thought. All great projects start with an idea. All great Scratch projects start with a Scratch cat in the center of a 480 by 360 stage.

I know, it’s a corny entrance.  tongue

Please read the whole thing!

You probably read the title and thought, “Hey, this looks cool! I’ll check it out!”

Well, you’re half right. The issue is that I need help. I’ve put a lot of thought into this, and the final verdict is that is possible, even though there may be a considerable amount of lag.

Final objective:

Make a Panther project with mesh that allows 2 Scratchers to ‘own’ basketball teams and to play against each other over the ‘net.

Sounds ambitious, right?

Well, this is the real whammy:

People could ‘buy’ tickets in advance, and watch the game live. Or you could just watch the game without anybody knowing that you were watching it.

Well, now it’s out. It would be huge, and there’s no way I would be able to do it on my own.

To clarify, this is what I’m thinking about what I want to happen:

I make a forum thread in misc to arrange a game. I decide:

The UK RHY Numbers Vs. The US HyperDazachiers. (Random teams, I know. xD)

I round up the number of people who want to ‘buy’ tickets in advance.

The next day, I distribute the Panther project. At a certain time (Scratch Time), Everybody clicks the green flag. I’ll be the ‘referee’ and I’ll be hosting the mesh. It will connect to my computer, and when I get the OK from both RHY and Dazachi, the match starts.

I’ll have a list in the corner showing the people who are watching right then.

When you click the green flag, if you got a ticket, type in a code. It will then let you in. You can also put in your secret team code and get your team ready. You can also watch the game anonymously.

There would also be another list, for chatting about players and the game, in general. I would moderate that.

Ok, everything clear so far? Good. Now comes the collaboration part:

1. I need somebody to make a base:

-Scrolling background
-Only one character for now
-2 hoops in either side of the scrolling background
-When ‘D’ presses and character is close to either basket, dunk.
-When ‘L’ pressed, and character is close to basket, do a layup.
-Be creative about free shooting controls.
-Use the best sprites possible, please!

2. Music:

-Anything, just a bunch of great songs
-You don’t have to make it yourself. You can recommend...

That’s it for now!

I’d appreciate feedback, but please don’t simply say, “This will FAIL”.

I would prefer if you said WHY it would FAIL or wouldn’t work.

Thanks for reading, and Scratch On!

smile

Re: Scratch Basketball Association collaboration

Well, I made it so the scratch cat is the player, so can you show me the scratch do a layup in a project? It'd be REALLY helpful.
