It is my personal opinion that this forum not be closed, but all topics promoting a specific race, religion, or political party be banned.
It should be an off topic section for Scratch, and not anything more.
Lets change:This:
Use this forum if you are not certain if the topic is directly related to Scratch.to:
This:
Not sure which section your topic belongs in? Post it here.
You're thoughts are alot like mine. Religious etc 'chatrooms' should be banned too. It's exclusion, and could start a flame war.

Well...I told the mods and the Scratch Team that this would cause a flame war. They wouldn't listen - and now look what happened! We can't even DISCUSS these topics now!

Apparently you cannot tell the difference between a flame war and the nice, friendly debate we're having here.

When I joined, I was perfectly happy before I found Inspiration and More.
But I prefer the TBG.

Float. If I told you exactly what I'm thinking about you right now, I'd probably get banned. If you provoke me any more, I WILL say it, and I don't care if I get banned!
On-topic:
1. Don't you think people would have been offended by the religious topics - and started a flame war?
2. I was quoting the Scratch team when they told that to a member who was cyber-shouting...let me go find that...

Sorry to bump... but this thread directs posts here.
I think this bit should be changed:

Miscellaneous is a very broad topic, extending from topics that have to do with scratch, but people don't know where to post them, to arguments about things 100% off the topic of any online community or program language. What I like about the Misc. forum is that you can express yourself there. Some topics ask what some of our favorite things are or stuff like that. This is nice because you can get more comfortable with other scratchers while in a safe environment. Some people don't really express themselves kindly though, causing arguments, which is on the con side of the Misc. forums. I think the problem that can be easily fixed is that the Misc. forum is too broad, allowing all sorts of random topics.
Maybe some forums like these would narrow down the Misc. forum:
-Express yourself - Tell the community a little more about yourself, and make new friends.
-Beyond Scratch - What do you do beyond scratch? A different Programming language, or Advanced Software??? Share it here.
-Online Communities - Do you participate in any other online communities besides scratch? Share and talk about them here.
Hope we get all these problems worked out soon!

That sounds reasonable.
The tricky part is telling whether a misquote is just a joke, or actually meant to be mean or disrespectful or confusing. Do you think we should enforce this like don't - do - it - with - other - users- or - else - you'll - get banned? I'm just worried people will say we didn't know and we'll end up doing a lot of banning / unbanning for no good reason.
Do other people agree with / support this change?

I agree that misquoting is mean and dangerous. I wouldn't want someone misquoting me! I'm going to keep up my good reputation on these forums.

It can be hard to differentiate, as you Scratch Team always say. A lot of people are mistakenly what's-the-word-ed for jokes, so I'm going to start using the
emoticon after any jokes I make, if it can be taken the wrong way.
So maybe that could be some sort of solution, if we can get people to accept it as a "rule."
Pardon my rambling

I support, as long as warnings are given - that way people know.

The link you made in the recent political topic linked to the Miscellaneous forum, not to an important thread like you probably wanted to.

There must be some really sensitive folks here if you can't discuss that.
