It could very well be the project you're trying to open. Do other projects not open, or just the one?

It appears to be just the project, then. I'm afraid I don't know any ways to fix this.

Hmm.... try duplicating it or so.
If that doesn't work, then I am sorry. I can't help you recover it.  sad

Go into Windows Explorer or any other file manager and find the file, then copy & paste it.

Yeah. Like coolstuff said.

Click on My Computer.
Navigate to your documents
Click on scratch projects
select your project. Press Ctrl-C then Ctrl-V. Open the file that comes up.

Not that I can think of, unless you already have the project open, which I'm assuming you don't (you can export the sprite[s] that are causing problems).

Unfortunately, no. It appears that your error message is correct; the file is damaged, and there's no way that I know of to fix that.

Hmm.. I know why that could happen. Did you save your project, but quit Scratch before it finished saving? That might be the cause. If it's true, I'm afraid it's not possible to recover your project.  sad

http://i52.tinypic.com/5es7t0.png I know what you're thinking! "Neptune! Get rid of those filthy advertisements and give us back the Zarathustra siggy, you horrible person!" Well, don't worry about it, the Zara siggy will be back soon, new and improved! ^^ Meanwhile, just do what the sig tells you to. >.>

You'll know when Scratch has finished writing the data to your project file. After the last bytes are appended and finalized to the file, a box-like thing will spring from the currently active sprite and grow until it surrounds the script/costume/sound station, then it will disappear. Also, check out my forum, which covers this issue. Make sure you ALWAYS keep a backup if your original, either in an archive, on a USB device, on a CD-RW, or just another folder on your computer. Once the file goes bad, you can restore it with the backup! Hope that helps!  wink

Ever since Misc was killed, I've pretty much stopped going to Scratch Forums...

Maybe you could take a screen shot of the scripts by pressing your Alt key and your Print Screen key and then paste in into paint and then copy the scripts from the screen shot into a blank project.
You could just export the sprites.

S/he tried exporting the sprites, and it would take forever to screenshot it. Also, considering she can't open the project in the first place, she wouldn't be able to get to those scripts and sprites to photograph and export them.
