Simulated Flight

I am wondering if there is any way to realisticly make an aiplane fly in scratch. I'm looking for the mathmatical formula of bernoulli's prinsiple and how to use it in Scratch. I want to make a 2D flight simulator but without this it will look like *.

Please tell me if you find somthing.

Hmmm... I'd use variables that state your velocity, and then change the "pressure" it exerts according to that. So... forever, point towards <airplane or whatever> and move <velocity variable, may need / or * blocks>. I'm not the best programmer, but I am in a Gr. 6 Science unit on Aerodynamics so at least I know what you're talking about.

Re: Simulated Flight

thank you very much for responding so your idea is to set a variable of velocity which then mathmaticly is altered to make a variable of pressure or lift then change the y value by lift?

Re: Simulated Flight

I think a proper flight sim is well beyond the capabilities of scratch.  If you drew 3D costumes, and used the right formulae...

There are 0011 types of people, those that can count in binary and those that can't.

Re: Simulated Flight

i think there should be a flight game where u can fly ur own plane sitting in the cocpit and really fly the plane and land it and stuff and it should have 3d graphics    big_smile

That might not be possible to make, unless you made it just lots of costumes or wireframe with the pen tool... It's not easy to make 3D graphics in scratch, even the "illusion" is hard to make right.

I'm taking a break from Scratch until 2.0 comes out. Any messages sent between then and now probably won't be read - sorry.

Re: Simulated Flight

3d is even extreamly difficult on flash. As for the formulaes id recomend alot of trying. trial and error has always been my strong point. it usually takes a while though

Re: Simulated Flight

Have you thought of using the 3D scratch technique to make a 3D plane? Here's my tutorial:

Re: Simulated Flight

You could check out my 3d flight simulator for a good-ish 3d flight simulator... or at least some algorithms.
