On topic: Actually, I use signatures without thinking about it much. 
But I hate it when I have to check if I'm seeing someone else with the wiki signature...

I used to remember by signature, I can tell by the posting style and sig combined.
Just the signature confused me when people had the same signature (illusionist, there was some guy who copied your old sig.)

Signature. A memerable signature means you remember ther person. Like mine
