Heres a list of what I want:
3D in game rendering
Game pad compatibility
Quality sounds
Physics
Weapons
Landscapes
Lighting
Anything you want to add?A HUD
(and much later) proper destruction of objects, like walls, the ground.HUD? You mean like an overlay?
Yes.
An Overlay.
Except that actually shouldn't be too hard.
LIST:
1. 3D in game rendering
2. Game pad compatability (shouldn't be too hard, just make a cfguration file and wizard)
3. Quality sounds
4. Physics (which is more important, sounds or physics?)
5. HUD
6. Weapons (5 and six go hand in hand)
7 Landscapes... like fancy bgs that are 3D? or maps?
8. Lighting... Which isn't as hard as you would think.
9. Multiplayer capabilities (online).
10. Cross platformability (which is why Codeblocks or Dev-C++ is a better choice than VS2008)
using SDL!

I checked Dev-C++ I don't like it. Codeblocks looks good.

I have no experience of anything but VS2008. I downloaded it, liked it so much that I didnt try anything else!

Ill check codeblocks, but there shouldn't be that much difference with the programming...

CodeBlocks Is what I've been using when programming for the cross-platform.
It's cool. And it comes precfgured with Mingw in the windwows, so you don't have to go and compile GCC.
ALso, Adding SDL is a matter of copy and pasting 30 -c 36 files
VS2008 is NOT crossplatform.

Have you taken a look at the Cube Engine yet?
Yes, It's quite good, except that the players models graphics quality looks majorly inconsistent(lesser) than the landscape renderings.
I've downloaded blood frontier:D
have you downloaded it? It has online and stuff.

Me-likes. Does it use C++? If so then we can take a look at it and see if we can adapt/use parts of it, i love the movement in it, a bit like Halo...

Re: External work: Game engine.
I can help make 3-d images. I just got photoshop. I can also help debug c++ programs. Finally, i can make insalls and patches. The downside is that at the end of the patches and insalls there is a small ad. I would love to help once again!

Well we don't need 3D images, but if you want to help debug then sure.

Ok guys; lets get working!
Step one.
Lets start by getting a 3D objects on the screen.
I suggest that we either find a header for 3D objects or write it our self. Then it'll be easier to use widely.
Step two.
Lets put in a physics header then play round with the 3D object, after that we can decide what to do.

Good Stuff!
Okay, update the first post with that, and FLOWCHART!
Flowcharts make thinking easier.

I added a link to the SDL Tutorials to the first page.
Plus, I want you to do the get the 3D working, just to start off, you've done some OpenGL, and SDL comes with an SDL-openGL header to make it easier. So, if you wouldn't mind try.

What do I get to do?
Anyway, we need 3D models don't we?

Yeah... if cds56 can tell us what file format he needs I'll make a 3D cude for him. (Go blender!) Rather borring, but its a start.
