In Scratch, all you have to do is make sprites with different costumes, and cycle through those costumes to make them change what they're doing. You can use the "looks" blocks for certain graphic effects, and the "motion" blocks to make the sprites move. In combination with changing costumes, changing their looks, and changing their position, you should have an animation all set!

You can also move sprites or use the pen to create an animation.
Example:
Instead of one sprite, you make a character a bunch of sprites and change each sprite's position to "animate" it.
