What's the point of the 60 second rule...?

I know that it is used to 'stop spamming', but can't we use the same filtering method th atis used on projects? That's the one where Scratch senses if one of the comments you just posted is similar to your last one. Does anybody else feel this way?

Well, people who spam write different things every time, I've noticed. Also, I could go around onto MILLIONS! of old threads and type things like "hi wanna chat" and spam-ish stuff like that, and nothing would stall me... ever! It may be annoying, but it also serves a purpose  smile

Sometimes I just am replying to someones question then I go to another question and it gives me the 60 second rule.

Yep, that's the sixty-second rule! I get it all the time - we're just going to have to live with it, I'm afraid.

Its purpose is so that you can't fill pages with useless posts. I usually read the entire thread, so I dojn't get it too often.

Mods can post on locked topics and get no 60 second rule!
We're doomed!
(Just kidding)

Same - although I got it once, just before the election, whilst trying to help as many people in the shortest amount of time possible  tongue

And, 12three, I think it means "commercial spamming", as in when people post links to businesses, not when people say "hi wanna chat" or whatever... Commercial spammers try to post as many links to websites as possible in a short amount of time - but don't worry, the moderators usually clean it up quickly!  smile
