Re: Panther development thread

Hi Panther team, love your version 1. I know i am posting in the wrong area but i can't seem to get help. I opened a scratch project i was working on in Panther, but now it doesn't work anymore and lags too much. It doesn't work right in Panther or Scratch 1.4. Some scripts seem to be executing faster and before others that weren't like that before. Any suggestions for help?

I had that problem too, I think it might be because Panther saves in a different file type: .pt, instead of .sb, but I'm probably wrong.

Do you have a mac or a pc, I have both and I know how to fix it for both (I think  tongue ) so if you tell me I can tell you. <- that sounded like a threat kinda  smile

The original .sb file should still exist, I think.

I just checked, it still is a .sb file and still has the mentioned problems. I was searching and apparently I had an auto backup save from yesterday, and it works fine. I only lost a few hours of work now!  smile   smile   smile  (I am very happy.)  smile

It shouldn't make any difference, we just changed the file extension to make it more personalised. Still coded the same way.

Re: Panther development thread

I think it's probably that Panther is designed to read from 1.4 scratch version, anything older than that may not br read properly, and if it does not work properly in scratch 1.4 then it certainly not work in Panther.

Re: Panther development thread

hey sperry, yes, I think I will forward them to you, I can't handle the registrations from here due to lack or dropbox. I'll send them on now. You should see a folder in the dropbox that contains a list of registered emails. I know you don't have my lovely project that loads it automatically into the file, but the layout id pretty simple. Sending them now  smile

But, the point is, Panther shouldn't be writing .sb files ever, even if the project was read in from one.  You  might want to put up little warning windows on the way in and out: "you are reading a Scratch project into Panther.  If you make changes and save the project, it will be saved as a Panther project, which Scratch won't read.  (Your original Scratch project will be unchanged.) [ ] Do not show me these warnings again."
and "Your project was read in from baz.sb but Panther is saving it as baz.pj which will not be readable by Scratch.  The file baz.sb remains unchanged. [ ] Do not..."

Re: Panther development thread

While I'm making requests, could someone please develop a version of the Panther logo that's text-line-friendly?  (I mean, longer than it is tall, sort of like what's on the top left corner of the Panther window but incorporating elements of the tiles in the square logo.)  Then I could use it in the link on byob.berkeley.edu.

.pt, not .pj (Sorry, just had to say this)

That would be awesome!
