Re: Scratch 1.5 (or 2.0) Suggestions

There is already a thread for suggestions for Scratch 1.5 (or 2.0) here.

I'm graduating HS this April and going to college in the Fall.

Re: Scratch 1.5 (or 2.0) Suggestions

I was thinking it would be realy cool if during a game you could draw on a sprite and them move it around. or draw your own sprite during a game

Re: Scratch 1.5 (or 2.0) Suggestions

Lot's of cool ideas! Remember, if you have a suggestion for Scratch you really think is important, think it through and make a mockup. There are some guidelines about that here:

You should be able modify how variables look... Not just orange.

Re: Scratch 1.5 (or 2.0) Suggestions

Why not just make an editable number system to display variables?

Re: Scratch 1.5 (or 2.0) Suggestions

I was thinking like so you could change the size of the project to like a rectangle, Huge square ect, and so you can change the mouse to something, like a explosion or anything!

cool                                                                                   ~Tralla_kid~

Re: Scratch 1.5 (or 2.0) Suggestions

There should be block that sets the x/y a variable appears at on the screen, and what mode it would be in. Something like:

VARIABLES_Variable[Whatever] Go to X:[X] Y[Y]

VARIABLES_Variable[Whatever] Set to Mode: [Drop Down: Name and Value, Slider and Value, Value]

The mouse pointer should have its own variety of commands. In programming, Flash will be a major issue.  It should have all the commands Flash has.

Re: Scratch 1.5 (or 2.0) Suggestions

I want a Hide/Show list block and a block that opens up a webpage INSIDE OF Scratch. Then I could put a web browser in my Operating System.  smile

Re: Scratch 1.5 (or 2.0) Suggestions

I'd like it if Scratch 1.5 had a 3D feature.  2D is based on x and y.  3D is based on x, y and z.  z is depth.  If the Scratch programmers added in z then there could be 3D games and better graphics.  That would be cool!

It would be convenient if you could choose how you want your game to be downloaded.  Either it could open in Scratch, like normal, or it could open in a just-play window, for people who want to download the game off the site.  This would be like any other game you download off of the internet.

Another thing I wish was possible was a saving option.  If someone was playing, they could save their game and when they came back, it would start from where they left off.  This could easily be done in 2 ways:

1.  You enter a password/code to access your saved game data.  This would be on the Scratch website.

2.  If you download the game in a just-play window, you can select an option to save the game data on your computer and when you open the game again, you can choose to open the game and you'll be able to play from where you left off.

The last thing I want to say is that on Scratch, when you select the Presentation View, the graphics and screen get slightly blurry if you have a detailed object.  For example, I had a picture of New York city and when I went onto presentation view, the city was all blurry and it was like seeing through an unfocused camera.  So I think that in Scratch 1.5 there should be better graphics.

Scratch is a great program and I'm not saying it is bad.  There is always a way to improve and nothing can ever be perfect.  But what I am saying is that they should add  some exciting new features and improve some of the ones they already have.

Scratch is awesome and I can't wait for 1.5!!

Re: Scratch 1.5 (or 2.0) Suggestions

Create a new section called Internet:
it contains
. connect to internet
. get page [ ]
Also let things work like this:
set variable [ ] to ({get page [ ]})
Rather than:
get page [ ] and put it in variable [ ]
---
Let sprites produce copies.
Sprite section should contain:
add new sprite with data [ ]
open draw window and get data
rename sprite [ ] to [ ]
copy sprite [ ]
---
Make arrays.
Add the following to variables:
create array named [ ]
rename array [ ] to [ ]
delete array [ ]
show array [ ]
hide array [ ]
get array block [ ]
show list [ ]
hide list [ ]
create list [ ]
rename list [ ] to [ ]
delete list [ ]
create variable [ ]
delete variable [ ]
rename variable [ ] to [ ]
---
That would make a cool Scratch!

... this stuff could actually be done with blocks of code, and if you didn't reset the info vars when [green flag] was clicked, when the user saves the Scratch file, the contents of the vars would be saved. The 3D is going to be done with my program, scratch3d and also, there is already 3D on Scratch. So there is no need for them to add that. Thanks though!

All you would need is a hide mouse block! AWESOME! I had a mouse changer in an early version of ScratchHappy. The only problem: there were now two  cursors.

I reformatted a bit...an interesting set of scripts!  But how is this a suggestion for the next Scratch release?
