No. English is Germanic.
English contains words with roots in Celtic, Norse, Latin and French - so its no wonder its such a ridiculously complicated language with 12 different ways of writing the sound "ee"...
But I thought that complicatedness (O.o) was determined mostly by syntax rather than how many ways there are to write a sound... From my personal experience, English isn't a very complicated language. ^^"
With all the languages I'm familiar with, the level of...complicatedness goes like this:
English (not very complicated) --> French (quite complicated) --> Russian (very complicated) --> Arabic (uberly complicated)
And I don't know Arabic. But one of my friends used to study it, so I'm familiar. ^^
Okay, I admit it... I'm a hater of the English language >.>

D: I wish I could. We study German and French in our class, but I'm in the French group. And it's too late to switch. I absolutely love Germany!
My uncle lived there and knows some German. I believe it's about as complicated as French. It's got cases and merged words though, which French doesn't have. But the pronunciation is easier.

For me (a swede) I'd say German is quite easy to learn compared to french and spanish, many words are the same in swedish and german and there's not really any trouble with pronunciation. I haven't studied german but I've been in Germany many times (I live in souther Sweden) so I know a little.
But I don't know about the grammar part though

I am fine... I'll translate you this text that you said:

D: Ich wünschte ich könnte. Wir lernen Deutsch und Französisch in unserer Klasse, aber ich bin in der Französischklasse. Und es ist zu spät zu wechseln. Ich liebe Deutschland absolut!
Mein Onkel lebte da und kennt ein bisschen Deutsch. Ich glaube es ist ungefähr so kompliziert wie Französisch. Es gibt allerdings Fälle und zusammengesetzte Wörter, welche Französisch nicht hat. Aber die Aussprache ist leichter.
Do you see? German is complicated!
And this gets off-topic.

Another thing off-topic, I know you're not talking to me but if you think german is complicated you haven't seen swedish yet, it's probably easy to learn the basics but there's like no thing as regular verbs or nouns in swedish.
I'll translate the part you translated above:
D: Jag önskar att jag kunde. Vi lär oss tyska och franska i vår klass, men jag är i fransk gruppen. Och det är för sent att byta. Jag älskar verkligen Tyskland!
Min farbror bodde där och kan lite tyska. Jag tror att det är ungefär lika komplicerat som franska. Dock har det kasus och sammanslagna ord, vilket franskan inte har. Men uttalet är enklare.

The defence is public and grammar of the german language zero. It has many difficulties.

Actually, French is a "Romance Language", meaning it is one of the five that come from Latin. The other four are Romanian, Portuguese, Spanish, and Italian. Anyway, at one point in history, a group called the Normans invaded England (I'm pretty sure) and put in a bunch of French words (which, in case you don't remember, derive from Latin) into the English language, like squirrel. That is how so much Latin got into English.

Scribere is "to write" actually.

Yea I know. I was saying words that stem out of it. Scribere= to write, Lucet = it is day, Cubiculum- bedroom.
I was just saying the roots and words that come out.
