Any mod,
My first visit to scratch was around two years ago. I didn't really use it. The first time I started using it was around an year ago, but I wasn't fully active. Since around 7 months I've been using it a lot, and since I got an account (The 18th of april, 2010) I've been using it hours a day.
So, tell me if there's any difference between the user and the person.
Person - depends how you look at it. 2 years, 1 year, or 7 months.
User - Less than a month.Since there is no practical way to confirm if someone was or wasn't using Scratch before they made their account and started commenting and sharing projects, you do not meet the qualifications... this time around.
Except in cases wherein it's obvious to everyone in the community that someone changed accounts, the six month minimum time active (meaning posting projects and comments) is firm.
Aw.
Oh well, I guess that's fair.

Of course your hands are full - you're a Text-Based Games moderator!
That gives Chris an excuse as well...

The time I spend moderating depends on the situation: sometimes I'll be on the computer and moderate for a couple of hours in one day, but, other times, I may do small ten-minute check ups every few hours or so.
Does anyone want to devote two hours to moderating the Scratch Forums? Not me!
Well, I have no life, so I could probably do that.

Apparently we don't qualify anymore.

A silly question: Do the moderators who win this election have to moderate, or do they just answer reports and help clean up stuff?Um... that is moderating?
Oops - I meant reading through new posts...

I don't like this idea about voting for moderators - I protest! The problem with public elections is that the community just votes for people they like (or celebrities), and not people that would actually be good moderators. This happened in both TBG elections - oh, it was horrible. Luckily, we have good TBG moderators - but we almost didn't.
I strongly believe that the Scratch Team and moderators - only them - should decide new moderators.
Well - what's your opinion on this?
...............
Sadly, I can't find anyone on the forums (including myself) who would be fit to be a moderator.I agree with every single word your saying.
Honestly, I don't think we need more moderators. We seriously don't need any. All of the mods do their job well, and nobody who is currently active here would do a good job.
And just as well, with what you're saying about voting with moderators. Although it may be 'democratic', as I do in class decisions, I do remember the experiences we had with TBG mod elections, and they did get bad.
Well, the Scratch Team does have some say in the voting process - in fact, the Scratch Team are the ones who will be publishing the official list of candidates that people will be able to vote from! Us current forum moderators also have some influence - we get to reason out which candidates we would like to see on this final list before voting takes place. This ensures that only those who are truly fit to run for community moderator will be on the list of official candidates (eliminating the fear of a "bad mod" being elected).
Also, the voting is not a final decision - the Scratch Team is reserving the right to choose who the community moderators will be.

Wait... Another site is being made just for voting?
I was thinking that only forum users could vote... I think this would keep the celebrity voting down a bit...

That's what I feared at first. But reading over the post, it did say that the Scratch Team would pick the candidates for the poll. And overall, I am pretty sure if they don't agree with the winners of the poll that they won't choose them.

Yes, but really, moderating the TBG is proving to be easier than I thought. xP
I like challenges, but not the ones that cause a burden... Dx

Well. I have been on Scratch a while now and I do enjoy helping others and answering questions. My history has some negative aspects, but if I were a moderator It would be a chance to redeem myself. I promise I'd be fair and do a great job. My activity on the sight has slightly declined, but I will start visiting as often as I used to. I hope you consider this, even though some of my past comments etc will convince you not to.
Thanks

Hi,
If you want to officially enter, you'll have to post that in this forum.

Things are looking grim for me here, I'll probably not get the position, seeing all these massive speeches.

I really think PlayWithFire would be the best mod.

Voting isn't up yet... in fact, you can't really decide who you are going to vote for until they create the list.

It must be hard choosing. Are you guys having a conference? Or are you just like emailing? Or are you guys just having someone pick? Just curious, you don't have to answer.
