In a band-tips????

Ok, so I'm in a band. We want to send our almost-done CD t a record label, but we don't know if we need an agent or not. (If we do, we have got that covered, because my friend mom works at a music college) I need tips on:
1. How much we should spend on this band a month
2. How to get (a) on the radio or (b) in a local non-chain store.
3. Song ideas!!! (I'm almost out, and I write about 2 songs each week.)
4. Any other helpful stuff, which will be greatly appreciated!  big_smile
Thanks, everyone!

Goodbye, Misc. Until we meet again.

Aren't you like 9? Don't you think it's a bit early to be in a band? I'm not trying to discourage you or anything, but what kind of music do you make? Can you give me a sample?

Do your research before making a statement, or you'll just make yourself look stupid.

Re: In a band-tips????

Can I here some songs please? And I can give you some inspiration of new songs:

-Write a song about something you like
-Write a song about how you feel now, or base it on events that just happened
-Base it on your life in a subtle way

Thats all I got so far  big_smile

1. Depends. If
2. First, if you get a record label, call a radio station to play your song, second, just ask?
3. How about:
Rain
Sunshine
The End Of The World
Somethings that don't make sense at all
People who are lazy, and you having fun
smile
4. Remember, don't get too bigheaded. Sometimes it's hard not to, but write yourself a note or something about who you are.

If you want I can try to write you some song lyrics (not the whole song of course  tongue )

Re: In a band-tips????

I wrote some of a song, and I hope you can improve on it, cuz right now it's really weird.

I see the clouds go gray
In the sadness of today
But my tears begin to drain
Because I love the rain

(Chorus)
I love the rain,
I love the rain,
I like the puddles
And the clouds, oh
Because at the end of every rain is a rainbow

I skip a stone
From the grass, all alone
But not in vain
Cuz I love the rain

Make sure to improve on it, but get your point across!

If you need help rhyming, go to www.wordcentral.com, and check rhyming where you type  smile

This is scratch and often times people don't think things though. Kind of similar to the lets make a scratch MMO/new C++ FPS threads. They like the idea but don't have a clue on how to go about doing it.

Asking about tips 1-3 is ridiculous because no music professional will take you seriously if you are not even teen aged. Most bands practice for years and never amount to anything let alone accomplish items 1-3. I would just focus on the fun and learning aspects of it instead of becoming a star or something.

1. that depends on what you are doing.  if you aren't making money from the band then you shouldn't be spending anything on it.  you should already have instruments
2. that you would have to check out.  like archmage said they wont take you seriously until your at least a teenager.  i would get a band manager for this, someone with connections.
3.  not sure, try to make each song original and stay away from making every song have the same theme even if they have different lyrics
4.  good luck XD

The news (at least here in the U.S) puts too much emphasis on music stars, sports stars, anything else stars. They portray them so much to the point where kids think, "Hey! All these people got famous, so I can do the same thing and get famous too!" They don't realise that there are thousands of people trying to do the same thing, and only a few of them actually make it big. Take archmage's advise and just focus on the fun and learniing aspects, but be prepared to work your butt off if you want to make it big, because that's how the most successfull stars made it big.

Re: In a band-tips????

To everyone: This is a real band. I wrote a song called "Heaven" and I have the music for it! To float: I'm 10. I'm not discouraged. It's a REAL band. (Our album name is gonna be "We're not cute" ) Its not kidz bop. We write our own songs.   neutral  we're not planning to become FAMOUS, just maybe play a few songs locally. I live in a small town! And if we're famous someday, I'm not gonna change my name and I'm not gonna become some star-struck freak-a-zoid. I play multiple instruments, and we have 3 people in the band. We have written 6 songs so far. We plan to have 10 in our album, for our best start. Although you said not to spend any money on the band, I think I'm gonna spend 2$ and get these little things called "nuggets" that are kind of like maracas. I don't want to hear anyone saying, "Aww....you guys' songs are so cute!" because, as I said, we're not cute.  neutral
