Scratch 2.0

Ha! That topic name reeled you in, didn't it? Anyway, this is a random doodle of what Scratch would look like if I were king of the world and the MIT Media Lab members were my slaves. Enjoy...and take note.

Re: Scratch 2.0

That is so cool! What exactly would the "my friends" and "my projects" block would do?

They're array blocks. Rather than using Jen's "Add Array" function, I think it would be nice to manipulate them more like files. These would have similar functions to the [random project of [tammy]] blocks in NetScratch, but would recognize when you log in and prevent any "misunderstandings" that could happen when I use my Scratch-based chat system shown to tell everyone I'm Paddle2See.

Re: Scratch 2.0

Interesting blocks. So you think that NetScratch and Scratch should be combined, with more internet features?

Exactly. I also want strings, arrays, and GUI object support. Do I sound like a bratty seven-year-old girl writing up her Christmas list?

yup, I love it, though, lolz! Great design, btw. I like pencil-and-paper designs (ok, donut-napkin designs tend to be even better....)

But, seriously: I agree with you that Scratch would benefit from more blocks providing functionality which is currently restricted to the "edit-mode", like dynamic sound recording. Just now had a look at your "chatbox"-code. Wow, it *is* actually functional, not just a joke (well, yeah...content aside). This is so cool!

I did it rather than my history homework within about 15 minutes. But when I fall asleep at night, I dream of a better Scratch, so this was pretty easy.

Wow. Just wow. I dream of Harry Potter... I once met JK Rowling in a dream.I could've actually seen her in real life, but A) my parent's wouldn't let me, and B) tickets were sold out. Oh well... maybe someday when I become Scratch-Obsessed I'll dream of it.

You can right-click the image then click "View image" to see it bigger.
