I think it's sandboxed off to the Panther folder to stop people clearing important system files.
I don't know where the relative-path default folder is, but there's no sandboxing; you can give absolute paths and get to any file. I still think you should change that in the next release.
Thanks, I thought nXIII fixed that...
Yea, I didn't have time.... relative paths should go to the Panther folder itself.

Wait, if you download the same project to different computers around the world that had different IP address, would the projects still have the same Mesh IP?
Offline
no, the project does not own the IP, your computer does.
One person will have to give the other their IP to use it, though If you want it to always connect to your project, just leave your IP in the join mesh block of all athe client projects you distribute.

I use mac -- could that be a problem?

only if you want to.
with mesh, you can have two main types of project.
1) any two computers connect, one with the host project and one with the client project ( the client will need the IP of the computer running the master project.)
2) A server style project. you are the only one with a copy of the host project and you distribute multiple copies of the client project. one or more of these will be able to connect to YOUR IP address (you suppy it with the project) and you can use this for servers and chatrooms.

Not that I would have thought, though Panther is currently completely untested for macs.

Hey guys!
I'm working on making a .exe file with a self-installer which will create the folder in Program files and a shortcut on the desktop. Give me a while and I'll get it done!that sounds pretty awesome rossyboyfilm! I like the thought of that.
Sparks: I've made the Wizard installer! I've uploaded it as a ZIP Archive so just extract and then open the .exe file. I thought that the best place to put it would be on MediaFire. If I were you I would download it and take a look at it. Then if it's good enough change the link (or NXIII change it). Some of the features of this are:
-Automatic Start Menu Link
-Automatic Desktop Shortcut
The link for the download on MediaFire is: http://www.mediafire.com/?wdw2gvdzvzi
For any of the next versions of Panther or Bug updates I can re-make the install Wizards.
Take a look and get back to me! Look through the pages, I've added the license off the Panther Site and some general info

Darn. Mesh isn't going to work for my project, or I don't know it enough.
it's not that hard. try opening two copies of Panther and making one the host, the other the client. see if that helps.
(a varaible made in one project will apear in the sensor value block (under sensing tab)

Hey, why are you still online?
You deserve a break now! Go to sleep (if that's what you plan on doing if you live in the UK..?)
You've done too much work today!

Wait, maybe I'm wrong; you can give absolute paths, but I can't seem to open files in the root directory. (Hard to say, because there's no error message, just an empty file.)

no but directories are different, Users/*your username*/documents/etc.

On my MacBook Pro, I can read files in my directory by using absolute paths, e.g., /Users/bh/foo. But attempts to write, with either absolute or relative paths, end up in the great bit bucket in the sky.
