Accelerometer Picoboard Ichiboard...

Hi everyone.

I am no specialist but got the Picoboard and tried making programs with light sensors
and reed switches ( to calculate distance traversed by a turning wheel, Scratch house alarm...). It actually works and kids love it ( I am a teacher). Anyway, someone asked me if it was possible to connect an acelerometer to the Picoboard. I didn't even know what that was but did some investigating. Found out someone actually already did that - Ichi Board or Ichiboard but they don't seem to be  for sale. Would it be easy to do that , I mean assuming there are x. y and z axes could I just hook those wires up to alligators? If this is possible  could someone tell me what accelerometer to buy and how to connect?
P.S. Used an inclinometer already. the kind used in mototcycle alarms  but results are just 0 or 1.

Thankyou!
