@ Jonathanpb and TheSaint:
I don't blame you for forgetting me because I was inactive for a bit. Honestly, I have no clue why I left.

I'm afraid not - only Scratchers who have been active in the community for longer than 6 months can apply. See this page:
http://info.scratch.mit.edu/Community_Moderators
But the next election will be in 4 months, so probably you can run then!

Any votes for me?

Technically, the voting process hasn't started yet. The finalists will be announced on Tuesday, then voting will begin.

Well I hope I'm one of the finalists!

It probably won't me either. My speech was 2 lines and it was horrible. But at least I'm an honest politician. My speech was 100% true, no false promises.

I would run for moderator, but to be honest, I haven't been really active in the Scratch community... ah, well. I've got my hands full anyway... I don't need any extra stress.

I would love to be a moderator! There's only one problem. I've been on scratch for less than a month with this username, but I've been on without the account for a couple of years. Don't know if it means person or user on scratch for 6 months. Well, I doubt I'll get picked, so I'll also vote on a couple of users.
Chrischb and Jonathanpb. They've been on scratch for a long time and are VERY helpful. But both of them said they didn't want to be moderators.
Also, you're supposed to say if you want to run on the other thread.
Oops. Thread-Moderator-Running-Epic-FAIL! on my part xD

Ah, thanks . I can't decide. It would be a big responsibility if, in the small chance, I was elected, so I want to consider many things before I commit.
I have a question for any current mod (or anyone who knows): How long are you expected to mod per day?
There is no strict time requirement for moderators, per se, so there really isn't an answer to how long a moderator is expected to moderate per day.
Us moderators have different schedules and different personal lives. If one of us mods find ourselves in a situation where we end up leaving for long periods of time (vacations, final exams, etc.), we make this aware to the Scratch Team and other Scratch moderators.
As for me, personally, the time I spend moderating depends on the situation: sometimes I'll be on the computer and moderate for a couple of hours in one day, but, other times, I may do small ten-minute check ups every few hours or so. Another moderator may spend a different amount of time online and could have a different tactic.
I suppose this is not the very concrete answer you're looking for. The best answer I can give you to help decide on your decision to moderator candidacy is that the time and effort you spend on the website is based on the devotion you have to making the Scratch community a better place (and this goes for everyone who is applying for moderator candidacy). After all, a moderator who is devoted usually ends up taking out sufficient time to help out.

You really have it tough! The TBG takes me thirty minutes or so (more on a busy day), and even just with that I feel lazy sometimes.
I suppose I would make a bad forum moderator... good thing I'm not running.
Reporting is far easier - but it takes time.

Of course your hands are full - you're a Text-Based Games moderator!
That gives Chris an excuse as well...

Does anyone want to devote two hours to moderating the Scratch Forums? Not me!

Me neither!

A silly question: Do the moderators who win this election have to moderate, or do they just answer reports and help clean up stuff?

Hopefully people can see over the fact that I argue to get a point across. And besides, that was before my ban. >.>

Apparently we don't qualify anymore.
Learning from mistakes is useless if you can't put your newly obtained wisdom to use!

Um... that is moderating?

I just read this page, and I have concluded that there is really nothing I am incapable of doing...
I will post my speech tomorrow.
All I need is the faith of you, my friends. And the whole of your trust. Let us look forward to the future, not judge and dwell on the evils of the past.

Any mod,
My first visit to scratch was around two years ago. I didn't really use it. The first time I started using it was around an year ago, but I wasn't fully active. Since around 7 months I've been using it a lot, and since I got an account (The 18th of april, 2010) I've been using it hours a day.
So, tell me if there's any difference between the user and the person.
Person - depends how you look at it. 2 years, 1 year, or 7 months.
User - Less than a month.

Well, moderators are supposed to interact with the community, so I would think that is what the time requirement would be referring to. When did you first use the website? That is the date I'd stick with.

Two years ago was my first visit. I know that, because that was the time I went to Uruguay xD

It was in the works for a number of years, but was officially released May 2007. So 3 years is possible, but that's the maximum.

Since there is no practical way to confirm if someone was or wasn't using Scratch before they made their account and started commenting and sharing projects, you do not meet the qualifications... this time around.
Except in cases wherein it's obvious to everyone in the community that someone changed accounts, the six month minimum time active (meaning posting projects and comments) is firm.
