What Does "Rated M" Mean To You?

I think everybody knows that the M rating on video games means for 18+ years old. However, some people think it means "Rated M-Your Parents Buy It For You" instead of "Rated M-18+ Years of Age"

What do you think the rating M means in your opinion.
Be honest, because i'm sure some of you have Halo or Call of Duty and you are under 18. I admit I am under 18 years of age too.  tongue

Re: What Does "Rated M" Mean To You?

I think that only mature people should play them. I hate when I hear at school, "My dudes head got blasted off!!!!" I'm thinking, you shouldn't even be playing that game and now I know why.

My parents are a little strict, but not really if you take 18+ to heart. I was at my friend's house, and hew was playing COD, and I was like, I'm not supposed to play this, and he wouldn't stop. He might be a good friends at school, but I'm saying no next time he invites me.

M = Me only  tongue

Actually, I think that some games are okay, and shouldn't be M. But some games were meant to be M, like Grand Theft Auto. The rating system is kinda messed up.

Re: What Does "Rated M" Mean To You?

You're probably commenting on a post I made, aren't you. >.>

Some of them are unfairly rated. Some M-rated games have minimal amounts of blood, violence, inappropriate references, and other stuff. I am aware of that. I also agree that parents should restrict and allow the availability of such video games to their children, based on their knowledge of the content. But some parents don't care--they let their children have anything, if they buy it with their own money or something. And there is bad stuff in some games. Violent stuff. Inappropriate stuff.

Plus, I know this idiot who spends all his time playing video games, lets his parents do his homework, and doesn't care about school. I see him around making random gun noises like "GCHGCHGCHGCH" all the time. He's a real idiot. I guess that's the effect of violent addictive stuff. That's just a warning to y'all children. Good day.

Re: What Does "Rated M" Mean To You?

I've been playing rated M games since I was 7 xD

I think rated  M means don't let little kids play it if there is blood/violence/above mild swearing. Of course, you shouldn't let anyone under 13 play while unsupervised, because then the swearing will get into their heads. And if the game involves partial nudity, I'ld say no kid under 14 should play.

I remember I was at my  friends house, playing Brawl. We were having a good time, when this other kid over there(age 7) pipes up,"Do you have Call of Duty?"
Me: Isn't he kind of young for that....?
Robotkitty: But he's from Minneapolis.
Me: Oh, okay. That makes sense.

There was a tennis game rated M.

I honestly don't like it. Then the kids at school enjoy war and go "BLAMBLAMBLAM HAH YOU COMMUNISTS."

You know the sad thing? That kid is thirteen years old, and it takes him about three years to read an a hundred page book. He can't actually read either. I've heard him try.

"T--th-... uh... what's this say? Um. Thi--oh! This! This isa.. er. is a... sent. sen... senet.... sente.. sen tens? Sen tens? Huh? Oh! Sentence! This is a sentence! I get it now...."

I know a kid, and it took him a school year to finish HP5.

Then there's one kid who can read, he just can't read aloud.

Rated M is usually 15 isnt it? And then there are the M 16+
The only ones that are 10+ are A games which usually contain explicit material

Lol, FoxTrot is the best comic ever.  Calvin and Hobbes is a close second.

Dilbert and Calvin are tied for me.  tongue

I like Dilbert for all the work and computer references (always hilarious), and Calvin for the constant philosophy. But Calvin and Hobbes is getting boring because I've read every strip. If you give me the beginning of one, I'll be able to tell you the end without a sweat. Not so for Foxtrot.
