"Similar Projects"

On youtube, and similar sites, there is a "Similar Videos" or something similar to that in the sidebar. Maybe there should be a related feature in Scratch 2.0 which will suggest related projects based on tags.

Re: "Similar Projects"

Maybe, but would it only show three? Also, many of the tags are unreliable, people just put them on their project.

Re: "Similar Projects"

Tags aren't very reliable...  hmm

I fall: It's a tragedy. You fall: It's comedy.
Hmph enjoy your fall - I get a lovely spring... without pans of new leaves.

Re: "Similar Projects"

Yeah. If you watch an animation, then, in the suggestion box, an OS could pop up, just because they both have "POKEMON ARE REAL!!!!!!!!!111111111111" Tag.

Hai.

Re: "Similar Projects"

Yes!  This would work if tags were reliable.

(I believe easy per-tag voting/favorites would help the community keep tags reliable.  smile  )

Re: "Similar Projects"

As AddZero commented, this suggestion in unison with AddZero's tagging suggestions would work well  smile

Re: "Similar Projects"

Just a bit off topic:

I've always been curious about how Scratch knows which projects are a remix of what others...I find that even when you copy scripts from one project to another, they bring the "remix" with them (this has happened a few times when I used Archmage's scrolling engine). I wonder if anyone could provide any details about how this happens?

Re: "Similar Projects"

Well, you can see it keeps track of who shared it and when. For example, I can see everything you've done, and when, on your XML Parser by shift-clicking on "File" and writing a project summary:

2009-11-3 20:22:31    save    XML
    2009-11-3 21:47:48    save    XML
    2009-11-3 22:02:03    save    XML
    2009-11-4 07:37:36    save    XML
2009-11-4 07:38:28    share    XML Parser (sort of)    fullmoon
2009-11-4 07:41:21    share    XML Parser (sort of)    fullmoon

That's how it keeps track of remixing projects. As for individual scripts and sprites, I don't know.

Wow. Creepy. That definitely clears some of that up, thanks!
