to help me go to SD 2010.
My dad thinks that the only reason people go to SD (Scratch Day) is to show off projects. Is it true?

No, it's also to meet other Scratchers, collab some, maybe, and have fun!
Hope that helped.

I wish I could go, but I live at least 20-30 hours by car to massachusets. maybe when I'm old enough for an FAA exam...

To quote the website here:
Scratch Day is a worldwide network of gatherings, where people come together to meet other Scratchers, share projects and experiences, and learn more about Scratch.
What actually happens at any individual event depends on the planners of the event, of course

Even though Paddle just quoted it: Scratch Day is where Scratchers can meet and party - it's fun to meet someone else that you've known only online! You can teach others new programming methods, share tips, discuss Scratch, and of course - show off your projects.
