Qutting

There are ALOT of quitters here on scratch. Some are forced to by their parents. Which I think is a tad unjust. There are some people out there who are attention spammers. They think that if they say that their projects are not getting enough views people will view them just so they wont quit. Usually if that doesn't work they just go on with their scratch life. Then there is the people who are being cyberbullied which is a big no in the scratch community. Alot of the older scratchers who have had their fair share of time just drop and move on to myspace or facebook. BORING! They do have a right to quit sometimes. This includes Nickster08, Archmage, Wodunne, and others. But spammers you are what scratch has to deal with. If you spam then people WILL be paying attention to you and not the greater projects. You may think it is cool but can you imagine that one of the great animators of scratch get pushed over by a stupid quit project? Think about it. I will be recruiting members here to see if we can get ACTUAL quitters not to quit! Until the scratch communtity becomes healthy again scratch on

Re: Qutting

If spammers are going to quit. LET THEM!!! They were useless to us anyways.

EDIT: Title is misspelled.

I'm glad to think that the community will always be kind and helpful, the language will always be a fun and easy way to be introduced into programming, the motto will always be: Imagine, Program, Share - Nomolos

It's their decision, not yours. It's a bit like the protesters who were outside Nick Clegg's building thingie because he was going to make a deal with David Cameron but they wanted him to make a deal with Gordan Brown.

Re: Qutting

I don't see why people have to announce that they're quitting.  I would put it in a project, instead of these forums.

Re: Qutting

Its just a stunt- people want to know WHY they're quitting so they look at the project, and then they are tempted to look at the person's OTHER projects.

I agree with u on that part. But why tear apart the REST of the scratch community

Re: Qutting

It makes me mad how some scratchers "quit" JUST for publicity. they come back like 2 days later and say they weren't quitting after all, they "changed their mind" or others. I was about to quit, not for publicity, as few months ago, but then I realized I couldn't leave Scratch because it has played a really big part in my life.  smile  So just think of that before you quit. How is this going to affect my life? and then, you're fellow Scratchers will be happy to see you didn't quit.

It's not really. The awesome project people like bosox and archmage. it hasn't completly torn apart the scratch communty.

Let me show you.

There are 126,551+ project makers. Most of them make short animations or art. Most of them don't see the fourms. There's a handful of people who quit by fourm (annoucing on the fourms) every month.

Now... I'm guessing there's a lot of people who quit by project every month. Let's say... 10-20?

So, here is the maths.

There are 100 000 odd project makers. 25 go every month say? 25*12months = 120
So 120+ people quit every year. Look at the figures. Does that destroy the scratch community?

Of course there are the silent quitters which now totally ruins my point  smile

Re: Qutting

It's going to happen...some people just move on to other things or have other time commitments for a while.  And that's fine...it's all part of life.

However, if people are quitting because of problems withing the Scratch community (fights, bullying, etc.) that is something that we do need to pay attention to.  Maybe we can help them by bringing the problem to the attention of the Scratch Team.  Or maybe they just need a friend to look at their projects and give them some pointers  smile
