alrighty I know this has been asked a thousand times but I've already search about 40 different ways on this topic and nothing is very direct on how I can change the skin in scratch.
1) I have a source file and the Scratch skin files.
2) I don't know where to put the Scratch skin file.
3) I don't know how squeak identifies a folder to be used for the Scratch skin
4) I feel really freaking emo right now because I spent about 10 hours trying to figure this out and I've gotten no where D:
so if you know how to change the Scratch skin please give me a very direct detailed step by step method on how to do so. thank you all for your help I appreciate it.

Add/change the desired files in the folder, then Alt-click the ScratchFrameMorph, select 'inspect morph', then type
self readSkinFrom: (FileDirectory default directoryNamed: 'ScratchSkin')
and press Alt+D. It might take a while, the cursor will change to indicate loading.

thank you

For me, bottom panel does nothing.

For me, bottom panel also has an error.

I figured out the problem the code is 'ScratchFrameMorph readSkinFrom: (FileDirectory default directoryNamed: 'ScratchSkin') not readSkinFrom: (FileDirectory default directoryNamed: 'ScratchSkin') and you don,t copy and paste it in the bottom panel its in the panel in the right. the you press Alt + D and wait

![]()
no, it's self class readSkinFrom: (FileDirectory default directoryNamed: 'ScratchSkin'), you didn't type what I told you to.... and it IS the bottom panel, the bottom panel knows the correct context.

lol then how come some one from the actual scratch team told me to do that, also explain why his way worked opposed to your way when your way is 'correct' xP

LOL You're so funny... (not)
yea, well, I forgot 'self class readSkinFrom:', that's the EXACT SAME THING as 'ScratchFrameMorph readSkinFrom:', apparently you don't know Squeak...

I know I'm not funny I really don't intend to be, but your way didn't work when I did it so I just did the other way. anywho this thread is old and I already figured out the problem lets just drop this thread. (I'm also newer to squeak then it may have seemed at first, I pick up coding rather fast though.)
