Why does that keep happening though?  Maybe there's a problem with how she is caring for them?  Or maybe they are just naturally short lived...how long do they typically live?

I think like 2 years on average

Re: my hamster died.

My hamster died a few years ago. He was so sweet and we accidentally left the door open and he went into the heating vent. We thought he was still alive, and we put food out on the floor for him, but then some engeneers came and found him dead in the basement.

Re: my hamster died.

our family had a dog named sunshine when i was 4 years old, but he was too rough and hyper so we gave it to another family. the dog eventually had pups, but they sold them, and the dog ran away somewhere.

dang it if i had liked dogs back then (or canines) as much as i do now, i would've given Sunshine a happier life!  sad

Re: my hamster died.

I used to have a hamster called Fluffy as a present for my 5th birthday! In 2008 it died...then in 2009 I got on called Harry! He was so cute! But when I went on holiday, I left his cage open. When we came back, I looked for him everywhere. We saw him in the cupboard, walking awkardly...he had dirt on his back, not had water for 7 days, no food for 7 days...he was lucky he survived...We gave him tons of food and water...he struggled to drink, but he did it. The next day he was normal again, but his fur was still dirty. He caught a disease 1 month later though, called wet tail. He had a black tummy(I think it was part of wet tail) and then 2 days later, he died. In september 2009, we got 2 rabbits called sparky and chip! There still living right now  smile

Usually 2-3 years. And I don't agree they are easily replaceable, losing a pet is alway hard. A friend. When my ferret died...oh gosh, here comes the tears.

They died of illnesses. You made my sister very sad.

Re: my hamster died.

Aww... It is like I found this thread on more than coincidence.  Our cat, a brown tabby named Nala, just died yesterday. She died of old age, plus a heart problem.
