Emos tend to think that they are different from everyone else just because they are depressed, and they do everything in their power to point it out to people.
Advice:
Get over it, dye your hair blue and enjoy your life while you still can. Forget your past and move on. If you keep getting all emotional about what has gone wrong in your life, you'll never have a chance to move on. Must of you guys are probably like 9 years old. Like seriously, weak dude.
So true. For example, I've faced some really bad things in my life (not cyberbullying, so don't search my account) but I got over in a couple months later. Some people hold these type of things WAY too long, and then they feel like they want to die. Seriously, some people aren't the only people in the world that face the same problems, and those other people don't become emo just because of it.

Emotional is a word used to describe a persons personality, Emo is a social stereotype. They are different and have different connotations. Some of the stereotypes are right, some of the stereotypes are wrong, and it really depends on where you go. I do agree with what someone said about people who consider themselves "emo" (Or emotional, whatever) often exaggerate things, take things far too seriously and believe that noone in the world understands them. However, that's besides the point, as our views on the social group probably differ, due to us belonging to different ones. However, listening to a specific kind of music doesn't influence it either, because I listen to the stereotyped "emo" bands along with a load of other stuff, yet I exemplify the nerd stereotype. I know someone who is considered a "chav", but instead of listening to the rap / hiphop associated with that subculture, they are avid fans of Iron Maiden.
Also, Littletonkslover, I have a question. If you are emotional, why would you be bothered by people calling you it? I personally see no difference between saying that and saying you're tall, both are just simple descriptions.

I don't mind calling myself emo because I know I am, but I don't like it when others say that because I feel self-conscious. It's like when you admit,"I was wrong, that was childish," and someone replies,"I know that was so childish you sound like a 2 year old and that was so wrong of you just saying." It hurts even more.
I lower my self esteem a lot on purpose. I don't know why but it seems I should insult myself so others won't. I used to wear black a lot, but that doesn't prove anything at all. I get start crying for no reason sometimes, or for something like,"Pick up your room please."

Pick up your room please? That doesn't even make sense.

I don't understand. Why would it make you feel self conscious if you don't feel there is anything wrong with it?

I know, but I don't enjoy it so I start crying. D:
When others start noticing there's something wrong with you.

Did eveyone skip my post or something? Emo does not stand for Emotional
It's an insult used towards people who like new Emotive Hardcore music which isn't hardcore anymore coined by the hardcore people.

No, it's not
I'm guessing your teacher doesn't get out much
Anyway don't live your life based on a lie given to you by a teacher
Which also begs the question, did your teacher have something to do with you starting this topic? I don't see why you would have a discussion over the origin of the word emo at school.

It was about babysitting, and she was talking about don't let the kid get aggresive and hurt themself or whatever.
Although I think my definition still stands.

You aren't an emo
I like LP, MCR, and BB, but not Slipnot or anything.
Would you call me,"Emotionally sick?"

Not really, since I have no idea what any of those letters are

Really, every day I hear people mocking us emotional, or "emo" people, and it's getting really annoying. What if you were just born like that? There are diseases people get that make them easily depressed. And making fun of them doesn't help. Some people on one part of Scratch are actually talking about suicide......it's sad.
I mean, I'm not saying,"Oh yeah feel like a bad person," but try to help, not hurt us even more. I'm not really emo, but I do cry really easily and hurt people for no reason.(Slapping and stuff) Some stereotypes:
All emos have bangs. (Not true, it really varies)
Emos always cut themselves. (Nope, it's mostly emotional, although physical self punishment is not rare)
Emos wear black- a lot. (....Really? That's just stupid.)
If you can help us feel better, do. It's usually those that people backtalk to and stuff like that. Just don't go up to them and say,"HEY WHY YOU DEPRESSED EH, EH?" Annoying -_-
I'm one of those people who get depressed easily. Not an emo, though. I'm actually the opposite. I really like to wear black (Because I am unique, and nobody else wears all black but me. They know the style is MINE. ) I think wearing black is elegant and for me it relaxes your mind. Sometimes I wear all black and sometimes I'm colorful. Either way, I have the same personality. Relaxed, independent, NOWHERE near depressed.(most of the time.) I would probably be considered an "emotional" person. Mocking someone like me is a bad move, because really, I don't care.
fourth graders in my grade tease me at how bad I am at sports, and I was called pathetic. Once a boy valled me ugly to my face, and I wasn't really affected. (My friend was really nice and backed me up, saying "If you think WE'RE ugly, just look in the mirror". Best. Comeback. EVER!!

Besides breaking Benjamin, I would say those just fall under the category 'really bad pop music'

Have you listened to their songs? (Although Linkin Park is kind of pop)

I love "Dead," by MCR. "No one ever had much nice to say, never think they really liked you anyway, you're dead!" ~

Looks like this is getting a bit off topic. Time to close it up and start a new topic?

Eh, I think it can get back on track.

Maybe you should just relax. Count to ten, and sit down. Breathe in and out.
