You often come across Scratch projects that say "May cause Seizures". I wonder if anybody has any experience or expertise in this area that can give us specific guidelines for what things we should avoid doing in Scratch (or other media) so as not to trigger people who are sensitive to that kind of problem? Is it the rate of flashing? Are certain colors more likely to cause a problem? Does sound play a role in any way? Any help would be appreciated

Ya, it can happen because of lights or bright colors flashing at high rates, if you are epileptic it can send the brain a sort of electric shock and your nerves miss-fire, which can lead up to a seizure. Also super high pitch sounds can cause seizures to people who have epilepsy. Unless you have epilepsy you probably dont have to worry to much about your computer giving you a seizure.

I have never experienced a seizure, but in my project "Randomness" there are flashing colors and such and epilepsy, as Targethero said, can heighten the chance of seizure.
If someone has epilepsy, they would probably know about it, and that's exactly what my project warning tries to convey. It may cause seizures, so be careful if you have epilepsy.
