Editing scratch's code

I was thinking, Since 2.0 isn't coming for a while, maybe we could edit scratch's code. I just need to find out, Was scratch done in emacs? (probably aquamacsemacs) I was thinking of getting together with other users to make a "3d scratch" the idea originaly came from this I came up with the idea to make this ourselves, I asked fireball360, now I just need the emacs (or aquamacsemacs) source code and the permission from the scratch team.

Re: Editing scratch's code

You don't have to ask the Scratch team for permission to make a modification. Just don't violate the terms of use and your good.  big_smile

I think Panther is a spam mod.

Evidently, the only Scratch modifications that you respect are either made by yourself or professionals.

Yup, it pretty much is. One more post like that, and I report this to the scratch team.

Truely there is no such thing as a spam mod, a Mod which has been spammed is closer. Panther is not being spammed, it may be said that some members are overrating it, but you'll understand why they do it when it is released.

nXIII, I originally respected your opinion on the Spam mods, but don't discourage his creativity, Panther may be better than a lot of the mods there, but you've started to get a tad rude on the subject.

cool your jets, dude.

But he had no reason to post a download link, which i would class as spam.

COOL YOUR JETS!

I love forums 'cause people can't talk over you, so I will here make my points:
1. I said 'Panther is not out yet'. How can this be classified as advertising if I didn't even explicitly say that one should DOWNLOAD Panther. I may have IMPLIED it, but you can't yell at me for implications.
2. I do not discourage creativity, merely lack thereof, for almost all "spam" mods use the same blocks, most of which have been stolen from the forums (some of which are decent blocks, though, which SHOULD be included)
3. I am far from rude, I am actually quite polite, just pointing out that while there is nothing implicitly WRONG with Peck, one should download a more professional mod which has been written by actual Squeak programmers, as they will generally use better practice than self-taught/not-really-taught-at-all programmers.

I STRONGLY suggest that you don't give me some not-thought-about counterpoints, because I will stop responding. I hate it when people do that...

henley wrote:

And with what facts can you support your thought that Panther is a "spam" mod?
(also, Panther is not a mod, it is a derivative work made from the source code)

henley wrote:

*Ahem* is that an INSULT I see?

Re: Editing scratch's code

Why would I be jealous? I'm proud of my own work. And I don't insult people when I'm jealous. I keep it to my self and try harder.

roll  Whatever though, think what you want.

You could work on it from scratch (No pun intened) using a programming language like C++ or C#, both 3D compatible with the right plugin.
