Robotics and artificial intelligence are computer science!  (Well, robotics is also electrical engineering, but these days EECS is one combined department at most research universities.)  MIT and Stanford and Berkeley are ranked 1,2, and 3 in the US (some would say in the world but I don't want to start a fight  smile  ) in EECS with the order among the three depending on who's doing the ranking. (Stanford has separate departments for EE and CS.)

You can't declare a major in robotics; you major in EE and/or CS, and after you finish the core classes that everyone in the major takes, you can choose to specialize in robotics or in AI (closely related fields of course).

Another place to consider for AI, by the way, is Edinburgh, closer to home for you.

If you come to Berkeley in the next 2 years or so, you get to have me as a teacher.  smile

PS How do you put a smiley followed by a close parenthesis with no space in between, without it getting turned into half a Scratch block?

Thanks!  I'm a teacher, it's my job.  smile   Jens is just a great guy.

PS I thought you didn't need a passport any more within the EU.

Sadly Passports are still needed, to prove you are EU I suppose. Also, my passport is swiss and we're not part of the EU.

threw paris at my parents and they gave me a Look (I could feel the capital L). I doubt it would work, but they do encourage my enthusuiasm for Scratch and Panther, even if they have no idea what I do so we'll see  tongue

oh, one use I have found for the webpage reader is that you can make a project with the greatest ease that waits for the length of a page such as this forum to change, then pops. It's great if you don't want to constantly refresh the page!  big_smile

Im planning on going to Abertay universaty. They kind of specialize in Game Development, the main reason I'm on scratch. I first tried out scratch at a prototype game event which was by Abertay.

Or anywhere for that matter. Don't have a passport.

Only place I'm going is to visit my grandparents and D.C. (We might get to tour the white house!)

I'm amused at how hung up on passports you all seem to be!  If you passed the hurdles of cost and parental approval, getting a passport is the easy part.  Even I got one, and I have the honor to be listed in a House Internal Security Committee report as an enemy of the US government!  smile

Sorry, totally off topic, I know.

Me?  Do something bad?  I did something good; I opposed the Vietnam war, and racism, and stuff like that.  And I did it in association with a group called the Progressive Labor Party, which is what the HISC report was about.

Parental approval: X
Cost: X
Passport: X
Enemy of the US government: X

Sounds grim.  Good thing there's the Internet.

Yeah, and compact all the setters into SET.

nXIII says:
Wow, that might be difficult. Oh, well, I guess not, just use special cases for a list of sprite reporters and add those to the menu.

Oh... I don't know how to do that. I should look into it, it looks pretty much perfect!

I just googled "windows chroot" and discovered that Windows itself does not come with an equivalent, but there are a bunch of third-party solutions, some of them free.

nXIII says:
OK. Hm... I might look into that.

Cool! I'll look into that, and I bet I can come.

Awesome.  Do you like hot spicy Chinese food?

nXIII says:
I guess... kind of. That's kind of a random question, though.

Lua, yes Ever played ROBLOX? You use it to program games on there, with built in 3-D. (Also, easy to convert to VB from Lua!
Scratch, of course! Duh.
Panther  roll  Double  roll
VB (2007) 2010 is better  smile
no Alice Meh. I quit it when I saw my first computer virus - When I was using Alice. (Obviously not the cause of it...)

Oh! Forgot squeak!

Panther Team, If You Are Reading This, Then Good. I Think Everyone's Been Blind Of How Awesome Panther Is To See It, But PANTHER IS A SPAM MOD. That's Right. I Can Prove It Too. This Is A Post On The Slash Forum:

SPAM. That Just Proves Panther Is A Spam Mod.

Note To Panther Team: I Don't Hate Your Mod, I Think It's Pretty Awesome Too And I Still Can't Wait For It's Release. I Just Wanted  To Show You Guys That You Have A Spam Mod Too (Because You're Always Telling Everyone How Awesome Panther Is And Stuff). So Don't Think I Totally HATE Panther.

WHAT!!!
Are you accusing us of a spam mod? Think twice before syaing yes, because:

1) We originaly set this up to let users access 'advanced' features.
2) We did not in anyway make this spam. It just started all the spam mods, we hae nothing to do with the other spam mods.

And how is it a spam mod anyway?

Re: Panther development thread

SeptimusHeap wrote:

Well, technically, I said I was listed as an enemy.  The HISC was the new name of the House Un-American Activities Committee -- they changed the name as a P.R. move after everyone learned about how HUAC persecuted totally innocent people, and HISC wasn't much better.  (I think it finally went out of existence some time back.)

But, yeah, I am an enemy of the US government.  (From the left, not the right -- I'm not one of these Tea Party idiots.)  We could talk about all the reasons why, but in light of the other thread about spam maybe we shouldn't.

I really don't understand this. Even if we posted poems and songs and propoganda about Panther in every forum thread we could lay hands on, Panther would not be a spam mod as our mod has not been used to spam, we'd be talented, song writing spammers to be sure, but the mod can't be reffered to as spam.

As the case may be, none of us has had the time to write legendary songs about Panther, and as the post was placed in a thread talking about another mod, it really isn't spam anyway, simply discussing something relevant
