A few complicated but very rewarding ideas...

1. We should have a feature that lets you store variables and lists on the scratch server, put them in a folder, and have the option to put a password lock on the folder. Also, you should let us set weather it involves networking or not at the beginning of the project so that a customizable warning will show up telling you that you need an internet connection. Might be a bit difficult to make, but VERY rewarding.
2. The ability to customize the green flag and stop sign in Scratch. Easier, but not as great.
3. Maybe the ability to view a Scratch project on somewhere besides the Scratch site... I'm a bit unsure about this one though
4. The ability to block the project from being downloaded. Perfect for some, but has some room for error...

Anyway that's it for my ideas. Thanks for listening! I don't really care if these are made into the Scratch project at all, but I would really appreciate it.  big_smile

This gets into online features. It's a great idea in theory, but also opens up loads of doors for hackers and technical projects of the like. If they could fix these pitfalls, I'd support it.

2. The ability to customize the green flag and stop sign in Scratch. Easier, but not as great.

You mean graphically? I don't think that would work so well, considering it's not really so much a part of the Scratch project as it is a border around it. I don't support this.

You can already embed projects. There's an embed code on the sidebar (Under "Link This Project."

4. The ability to block the project from being downloaded. Perfect for some, but has some room for error...

I don't believe so. Scratch is meant for learning. If you find a project which is completely "WOW!", you should have the right to see how it works, which fits into learning. You learn from others. Also, Scratch is supposed to be open. Doing this would make it un-open (or closed  big_smile ). Also, I think the liscense that Scratch has doesn't allow you to make something that can't be added upon - by publishing a project, you're publishing it under the Creative Commons liscense. Scratch has, I believe, the same liscense. I think that anything made in Scratch has to have the same liscense, it can't be copyrighted.

5. Add the date and time of when a post was added to the forums.

6. Make it possible to store them on the web, but not publish them. In other words, make a site where you can lock your projects up on the web so they only can be seen by you. Might be difficult, but it would work well for testing projects and how the Java player reacts differently to your project than the Squeak player. Again, difficult, but rewarding.  big_smile

7. Make mesh more detailed... Make it so that you can see who is on what mesh group, and what mesh groups are being held, and titling/titles of mesh groups, etc. Either that or make multiplayer mode online. Would be very difficult, but it would make Scratch a WHOLE lot better. It would be better on mesh.

Post-Script: Who designed mesh?

I already see that on each message, in the dark blue area, like 2010-05-03 22:59:52 or Yesterday 10:54:55.
Would be nice if they fixed that time zone bug, though.
