Not a valid win32 application

After finally getting the installer to download, it tells me that it is not "A valid win32 application"
Now, i'm computer savvy but even I don't know what this means.

Re: Not a valid win32 application

That error usually occurs when the file is bad. From your post, it seems you had difficulty downloading it. Maybe something happened during the download, and the file became corrupt or damaged somehow.

Try this following web page, it's specifically addresses your error : http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000726.htm

Re: Not a valid win32 application

Maybe your Patcher isn't valid.

That means it was your patcher.

Re: Not a valid win32 application

I have this problem with projects. When I download them and double click them it say Not a Valid Win32 Application. I don't know how to fix this but you can still do the project by opening Scratch then open the project.

It sounds as if your computer doesn't recognize .sb extensions projects and open them up with SCRATCH. Try this:
1) Right click on any SCRATCH project. A menu should appear.
2) Click on 'Open with...'. A menu should pop up with a list of programs.
3) Click SCRATCH. (If SCRATCH isn't in the list, then click Choose program. A Window should pop up with a list of available programs. Use the 'Browse' button if necessary if the program doesn't appear in the window).

Does that work?

Re: Not a valid win32 application

I think I tried that but one thing I noticed was when I extracted 1.3.1 (My Shortcut still leads to 1.3 rolf I'll fix that right now.) all the pics that show what type of file it is it showed those and when I do what you do when I select Scratch it's pic is gone just replaced by the "normal" pic...

Edit: Wow, Windows is crazying me out. Now the things are fixed automatically. Maybe cause I have opened Scratch then opened the project it thinks it leads to Scratch now it's fixed! Now I still gotta fix my shortcut that leads to 1.3 instead of 1.3.1..

Edit2: Shortcut now is fixed...

Edit3: I like your sig.  big_smile

Re: Not a valid win32 application

Can you double-click it then Scratch opens with the project? I don't really think the Icon really matters but what really matters is:

1. Get Scratch to work.
2. Projects can be opened with out going into Scratch then opening it that way.  smile

Re: Not a valid win32 application

I just realized that the Error occurs when you select either the same project to open it self up or it opens in a short-cut. So try setting it to "Scratch.exe" not "Scratch". ( Mac is clearly "Scratch.app" not "Scratch" )

Re: Not a valid win32 application

Do you guys even know what it means? 'Not a valid win32 application'. Look at it, carefully. Your operating system is 32-bit, yet Scratch is meant for 64-bit operating system. However, if Scratch was 32-bit, 64-bit operating systems could accept it. Kinda like how a square is a rectangle, but not all rectangles are squares.  tongue  Just use the ZIP file because it doesn't require a 64-bit operating system.

Hope it helps!

Re: Not a valid win32 application

If it says that error, it thinks that the installer is 16 bit or on 32 bit OSs, 64 bit. The installer is either damaged or IS 64 bit. Redownload the installer or get a 64 bit OS.

I have a 32-bit windows and it accepted the Scratch program, and I used the installer. And how would you know if Scratch is 64-bit? Yea, I thought so.
