That's the question many want answered. I, myself, want it answered. But I think I have an answer:
In 2007, when Scratch was released to the public, it was mostly games out on the front page. Everyone loved games. Then, in 2008, it had animations and games. Then, in 2009, cats and anthros/art started taking over. The gamers where horrified. They covered their horror with anger and rage. They started flame wars. They patrolled projects, scouting out plain art/simple animations. They went on them and flamed in the comments. They criticized famous artists. They make one sick, so her dad banned her from using Scratch for awhile. She's back on, but she still gets sick sometimes. I think you know who, people. The programmers want 2007 or 2008 back. I, myself, don't agree with only art or only games on Scratch. It should be more of half, like of the Featured it should be an animation, a peice of art, and a good game.Or art+programming=interactive art. Everyone will be happy, because there will be a balance.

I just posted a thread asking "why can't we compromise?" Scratch is supposed to be a calm international society, and all I want is peace. I make art. (Slideshows. Check them out. They're called Scratchslides.) I don't make anthro, but I totally agree with a balance without any conflict. Put me up on that one.

Oh man, another topic
I think the reason this war's happening is because people keep making threads for it to happen in. I never saw this on the main site (though I hardly ever go there anyway)

i want a balance with no conflict.

A balance without any conflict, duh. EVERYONE wants this bloody war to end.

It is good that people are discussing. Right now many users are being banned because of this flame-war and users deserve to know what is going on. And this is all true. Many users believe that art projects should not be on the front page. Instead, they believe that only games should be on the front page. Fights start and users try to make other users feel bad. In the end, they get banned, but it is a continuous cycle.

I was on Scratch back on 2007 and 2008, and it wasn't really impressive then either.
Although the top loved page WAS mostly games, most of them weren't as high quality as the ones today.
So, balance without any conflict.

Pahaha. Telling people Scratch isn't for art doesn't give you a disease. Masked has Crohns genetically, and it would only spike up every once in a while when she got emotional about something.

Really, there should be a way for people to get along. Scratch is supposed to be community. And really, how does the thing you dislike ACTUALLY EFFECT YOU?
It's a stinking website!
Btw, 900th post!!!!!
HUZZAH!
