I'm on both sides. I RPG, but I dislike those people who create accounts just to RPG and upload their fancy character bios. http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=30909

Roleplaying is fun, and I think it originated on Deviantart or some other forum thing. People enjoy it, and I reckon someone came to this site and brought roleplaying with them. I don't think it's a bad thing- Roleplaying has given me several ideas for animations and games. The Scratch Team accept roleplaying as far as I know. Roleplaying also helps strengthen the Scratch community and I have made plenty new friends through many RPGs.
Roleplaying has bad sides, too. Sometimes things get too personal, and flame wars break out. Sometimes the Scratch team have to be called into it. And is Roleplaying giving new Scratchers the wrong message? Who knows?

P.S. And Rhy, stop being immature. This is why you're on my ignore list. (I just wish it worked on forums.)

LizardRPPerson - you have some serious issues with judgement. Either get it sorted or *. >.>

At least the random posts are better than the ones actually making people angry. Oh, the irony. And nobody gives a flying .... about your ignore list.

I think some of you have the wrong idea about RPGing. Topics like this on the forum is really stupid. I'm not a "forumer" *rolls eyes* as some people would say,but from what I've heard I thought the forums were for getting help and stuff. Not flamming people for having a sense of humor and an imagination. If it was up to me,I'd ban anyone who started one of these ridicoulos (sp fail) threads.

Yeah,i RPG. Its REALLY fun. And creative. You should see my grade in english because of all the ideas i get! Plus, just because people RP doesnt mean thhat they are OBSESSED with it,or make nothing but bios. Alot of you have the wrong idea about it. We don't RPG because...i dunno whats something someone said...Because we have nothing better to do. I do it so i can get my mind off things (such as being cyber-bullied.). I tried making a game once. It was fun....Coming up with the concepts. I can't program to save my life. So,because im good at writing stories and making people feel better, I RP. Nothing wrong with it. Its not "polluting Scratch". I think we should close the topic now. Its really...I cant find anything that wouldn't be offensive beside immature.

I'm creative. FROM MAKING GAMES. I do something really fun. MAKING GAMES. I'm not obsessed with something. MAKING GAMES>

"If everything was meant to be together."

Thanks for backing us up, games and "RPGs" are not meant to be together on the same site.

BTW, they are not real RPGs. RPG refers to games such as D&D which require battles, and statistics.

Oh, and learn to quote right. It helps if I can read what you're replying to befor ei read your post.

I'm glad to think that the community will always be kind and helpful, the language will always be a fun and easy way to be introduced into programming, the motto will always be: Imagine, Program, Share - Nomolos

You guys are just being immature. You don't have to make fun of roleplayers. It's not affecting you, so why are you getting involved? Sheesh.

Gawd. Why is everyone acting so arrogant? Can't we just work together and sort this stupid argument out? It's almost as bad as the programmer vs animator war. Scratch is made to do both, Jeez.

Then where did you get information on this thread, or get to it, if you don't go on the forums? Did something like this happen?

Littletonkslover probably wrote:

Mariana (littletonkslover's anthro, from what I know of) comes to Maki-Tak. She says "Hey - hey Maki. There's this forum thread that I want you to see - we have some people to make angry. This will be fun... >;D"

Or something devious like that.

MidnightWarrior wrote:

Well, then maybe Scratch isn't right for you  wink . There's many more websites where you can show off your artistic talents - such as deviantart.com!

MidnightWarrior wrote:

I beg to differ. How is RPing even related to Scratch? The Scratch website was created to share projects, and collaborate with others - not to socialize.

I've mentioned this before - but you may not have heard (which I don't blame you for).

Although it may not directly affect us - it does affect the scratch community, which affects us. The RPing affects peoples views on Scratch, and the type of projects people make on Scratch - thus changes the amount of spam we see, and what we find on the front page. But we want to collaborate with others, and see other's unique interactive art and games. And if we don't find anything on the front page, we don't have many ideas - and we can't learn anything new from others' projects.

Because of all of this art spam, people who make silly announcement projects practically get more popular than people who actually spend days, weeks, months, on actually cool games or simulations.

Re: How did RPing come to Scratch?

What? Do you think people are going to stop role-playing? Riiiiiiight. Do you think the scratch team is going to delete all the rpgs? I can almost be positive they won't. A while ago, me and a few other people sent emails to the scratch team requesting the Anthros Unite RPG gallery be deleted because of things happening within it. They emailed me back, saying they wouldn't delete it because to many people cared about it....
