How did RPing come to Scratch?

Seriously - I'm not saying this is something recent, but how did that come to Scratch? Scratch was never related to RPing , or anthros, or story-telling in comments in any way. But somehow, it became  the biggest thing, which many people do. Why is this? Explain why the Most Recent Changed Gallery is "Anthros Unite RPG" (http://scratch.mit.edu/galleries/browse/newest)? And I'm looking through the comments, and all I see is:

User1: 1 hour, 49 minutes ago
Emo2 appeared beside them. "I cant believe you guys wouldnt care about her." (he can be weird o_o)

User 2: 1 hour, 50 minutes ago
"So am I."

User 3: 1 hour, 51 minutes ago
Kisuke leaned forward. 'I'm bored."

User 4: 1 hour, 52 minutes ago
"Well she is badly hurt and she cant walk."

User1: 1 hour, 54 minutes ago
Emo2 punched back. "She's my step-sister!"

Now that was at the bottom of the page, and that was only about two hours ago! How is that possible? And being said, there's 5036 pages of comments! And what are they comments of? Just RP'ING! Why should this not be allowed?

-Because it takes up lots of memory space
-It is unrelated to Scratch

So please, keep a kind argument, and let's just focus on RPing for now - not the front page, not about art, or anything like that. I really wonder the answer to the question of the title of this topic.

Re: How did RPing come to Scratch?

On scratch, I don't know... People tend to RP when they know others are online so they can get quick replies and move on with the story.

If it shouldn't be allowed, TBGs shouldn't be allowed either.

But I think both should.

Re: How did RPing come to Scratch?

Well, RPing is just another branch of scratch. It's not slowing down the network and it's not taking up that much space. But seriosuly, it's just another way to have fun on scratch. How does it really effect you? I know you're certainly entitled to your opinion though.

Re: How did RPing come to Scratch?

The people shaped a part of scratch into rpging.

scratch has plenty of server space, no need to worry  big_smile

Just don't look at 'em.

But what is this 'story'?

When you see a friend in real life, you 'talk'. You don't 'role-play'. Lots of people on Scratch talk. But for some reason they also role-play, which is so different from Scratch. Where in the world did it come from? It's just beyond my mind.

Although I admit it's a gallery thing, in which I don't go on galleries much - but what it does to is change the community of Scratch into just plain drawers and not people who have a hobby of 'scratching'. Thus, there's lots of projects I define in my own opinion as 'spam'.

It came from the thoughts of a lot of people's heads which transferred a message from the brain through to nerves, to the hands. Then using over a dozen complex actions for the brain to move their hands to the keyboard. Then using a whole load of actions for the brain, to get the hands to type some rpging stuff and then, RPGng on scatch was born.

I can see why it was beyond your mind.  smile

Re: How did RPing come to Scratch?

I remember the first popular RP. It was back in 2007, it was something called "Quester" or something like that. It was very simple, but it became popular very quickly.

That's great - they're very creative - I've known that. They have lots of people, lots of characters, lots of settings, lots of events, lots of plots, blah blah blah. But it's still not related to Scratch in any way. It's like putting [removed by Forum Moderator - well, not really, but they would have] on the Front Page by andresmh. It would just change thing forever. And RPing did change things forever, I'm afraid. But I have hope, to change that forever to only 3 years  tongue

Yeah. They're pretty much chatting. Is chatting allowed on Scratch? Nope. So I think either
1. They stop chatting
2. They delete the gallery

[sarcasism]Yup. That's the reason they added the comments.[/sarcasism]

They would have said by now that it's not allowed.

WOTF only has a few loyal members, lots of cats, although only one setting, lots of drama(in a good way) and "Mario Kart" isn't really related to Scratch either. Things change, are you a republican? Change can be good.

We're not talking about Mario Kart.  hmm

If you are talking about the projects based on Mario Kart, then why are they unrelated. We have used Scratch to recreate something.

WOTF also has too many spin-offs of it. Hundreds of them. Or at least the SAME EXACT IDEA. And a random note, whenever I see "WOTF", it seems the O is missing.

I'm not a republican. I like change. Why don't you change and change your hobby and leave Scratch and only go on Deviantart? Or why don't you change and stop RPing and putting un-interactive projects and instead make projects that require programming. Sheesh.

I know many are of the same idea. But it's not my fault if someone is too lazy to look for an already made RPG.

1. Because you wanted to make a Mario Cart game and a topic about it.
I'm not gonna change drawing. I can stay on Scratch. Stop harrassing me, guys! It's not fun, maybe I don't WANT TO program. Maybe I LIKE TO DRAW, so I DO IT. Like game-making.
