How to Make Scratch Import Costumes Without Resizing Them

This will show you how to hack Scratch to import images bigger than the stage without Scratch resizing them. This allows for easy scrolling games because you don't need to break the levels into pieces!

First, turn fill screen off by shift clicking (hold shift and click) on the R in the Scratch logo:

Now click on "turn fill screen off"

A white space will appear at the bottom of the screen. Click on it, click on "open..." then "browser".

A big box will pop up. It is called the system browser and this is where all the code is.
Now follow the path Scratch-Objects -> ScriptableScratchMorph -> media -> importImage.

Now scroll down and find the highlighted line:

Remove it.

Press alt+s to accept the changes. To make the changes permanent, shift click the R in the Scratch logo and click on "save image for end-user". Then click "yes".
Now re-open Scratch and import an image bigger than the stage!

Hmph. It was my idea, but that was the easy part. I have made a modification to the paint dialog that allows you to resize the image!

Well, I had the idea, then you mentioned it publicly. I did it a day before you did...

I did this, but when i imported a 70MP image, the image was still smaller than the window.
